props you will never sell?

I've actually sold off most of my collection over the last 6 months or so.

I decided that I really only really wanted a few, definitive pieces. Also, the cash came in handy for my other pursuits like playing music, travelling with the family and so on.

Whilst I love this hobby, I realised that owning replicas is fun but doesn't really bring you any closer to the movies you love. You can love a movie equally whether you own a prop / replica prop from it, or not.

I've kept all the pieces I love to have around and will probably accumulate a few more bits and bobs from various movies in this new year, but not too much I think. Over-saturation and amassing a vast, sprawling collection didn't fulfil me, personally. It was fun, but now my focus is 'small is beautiful'.

I would have to have the right reaon, like, sick family member, house burned down, fast cash. But when it comes down to it, it can all go. I would sell my Vader ROTJ saber last thtough. that took me like 4 years to build.

Well said Al....and I agree. That's the way that I'm proceeding as well. Only keeping the "gotta have" stuff.

Agreed. There is something about an item, that you created ,that would be harder to part with because YOU built it.

Pretty much anything I have right now is never going to sell but I have a few that are beyond exception.My original Y-Wing,my pyro X-Wing pieces,hell any of my original stuff from the OT and nothing from ROTS either.I have cleared a few things out over the past year to raise funds for new buys but am really down to stuff I just couldn't part with.

Nothing I have is irreplaceable. Some are extremely rare, but still replaceable if the money is right. I built a good chunk of what I have but I could build them again if I had to. So I guess there's nothing I won't sell if I really need the money, or have a source for a replacement.

My Vader ROTJ saber is 2 years in the making and still only 85-90% complete. Several parts I buy for it just keep getting lost in the mail, multiple times. And then some parts that I do receive are just not up to the mark.

Its like there's a curse on this saber for me

Although I love all my stuff and could never part with anything, especially my Tusken costume. Not 100% accurate but my first costume altogether.

Oh, I know the feeling!
I went from resin parts, to hardware... to a Kenny kit... :unsure
I can give up my Luke ANH with the Exactra bubbles, I can always make another. But man, when you put time and effort into a prop, its hard, but not impossible to give it up.

Whenever I get my custom Highlander katana, that will be my grail. The Holy-ist of all things, it won't be sold or traded and if someone wants it...they welcome to try and take it! lol

I have a fake Oscar that my wife had inscribed for me, which is going no where. My Captain America shield is next on the list since she also bought it for me. Took her a year to get it she was on the pre-order list.

My 1:1 stasis tube with working light and facehugger. Built the whole thing myself from kits, my first ever project of something this size and, at the time, complexity. I can even fill it with water (which it is at this time). Painted the facehugger and sculpted some "anatomy" for it. Sealed the whole thing so it could sit in the water and not have the paint-job go sliding off after a few months.

I also wouldn't sell my 13th Warrior Wendol totem, but that's because I sculpted it...and no one ever wants to buy a copy.:lol
