props you will never sell?

there still seems to be plenty of disposable income around despite the economic conditions.

personally i'm probably 300 pounds better off a month before the doo doo hit the fan so it really hasn't hit me too bad. the price of petrol is probably my biggest gripe.

Never say never, but it would be hard to part with my little buddy...

Nice droid!

I have thinned my collection considerably. Mostly got rid of stuff I had to build.

I have one prop I doubt Ill sell. Working Staff gun from STARGATE, even my wife says,...."sell everything but that!" Also my collection of GLIDERS.
My SD Pulse RIfle, some odds and ends....and anything I made for my Kid.

Of all my stuff. There is one item I wont part with.
its part of the HEAT SHIELF from APOLLO 9. Just a sample part in lucite.
My father did some work for this person who was an engineer on the project.
I was in the Navy at the time, and ofcourse, Dad being the proud guy he is, was braggin about his crazy kid who flew for the Navy. This engineer, pulls the cube out of his desk, and tells my father, "give this to your son.."

It's not so much as I gift from my dad, but also a gift from a complete stranger.

I never forgot that act of generosity/kindness.

My Luke ANH Graflex. Wanted a lightsaber for more than 20 years before knowing there even was such a thing as a Graflex. Once I knew, I started hitting up every camera store and swap I could to get one (this was back in the day when they were going for $300-$400 on eBay, which I wouldn't pay).
I was on a business trip at a conference and during the lunch break I took a walk and came across an old camera store that looked like a tornado had swept through it. Stuff was everywhere. There were a few press cameras on the shelf, so I asked the young girl behind the counter if she had flashes for them. She picked up something and put it down and then grabbed a Kalart flash. I said "that's not it, what about that other one?" and she grabbed the "other one" and put it on the counter. After 20 years, there it was, man, like it was waiting for me to come and get it. It was unbelievable.
I asked the price and she just shrugged her shoulders and said, "How about ten bucks." I said, "fine."
When I saw Star Wars back in '77 I thought that saber was the coolest thing I'd ever seen, and I still do. I'll never sell it.

Love that story Probedroid! That's how it should be!
Reminds me of finding the first MPP in '99 in an ancient Camera Shop - was looking for a Graflex but came out with the 'Correct' Microflash for £15 - Oh the excitement!

I don't think I'd ever sell my Highlander(1986) Katana. Cast from the original screen used hero sword using tooling resin and carbon kevlar fibers.(This is not the Mentor sword)

I, personally, am a pack rat. I couldn't get up the courage to sell any of my valuable replicas. I have a few less valuable things that I WOULD get rid of but there would be little to no return.

I don't think I could sell my Smallville 1/6 scale ship (18" long), my autographed Smallville High School letterman jacket, my Webley WG .455 pistol, or any of my Indy Adventurebilt hats.

Sure hope I'm never pressed to sell my TARDIS, or my TOS Captain's chair; both were labours of love. My scratch-built TOS Tricorder, too. I guess it's as said earlier, when you make them yourself, they have special importance. :)

Id have to say a Captain Jack Sparrow sword I purchased from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Made a custom display for it as well and looks great in the trophy room!:)

Not a prop, per se...but it does have film/TV connections...

My paperback copy of "Band of Brothers" as it has signatures from many of the E/506 vets, including Dick Winters, "Wild Bill" Guarnere, "Babe" Heffron, Carwood Lipton, Shifty Powers, and Buck Compton.

It's also signed by Dale Dye, Donnie Whalberg, and Tom Hanks.

Everything has a price.

EVERYTHING.

A few years back my dad asked me the same question. I told him that there were a couple. He asked if someone offered me $10,000.00 dollars for my MR Neurolyzer, would I sell it then? Of course I said yes. Then to prove a point I said that I would never sell my gold Saint Christopher medal that my grandfather used to wear then was given to my dad which he gave to me. THAT has no price. He asked me if I would sell it for $10,000.00 and I said no way. He asked if I would sell it for $50,000.000 and I still said no.
Then he called me an idiot and went in the kitchen and made himself a sandwich.

My point being everything listed in this thread is for sale, someone just has to offer the right price. That screen used ANH hero Vader helmet that you would never sell for any price...if someone offered you 20 million for it, oh, yeah, you'd sell it. If you think you wouldn't you're kidding yourself.

Everything has a price.

Can't put a price on dreams. These things have such a strong emotional connection with me that I could only justify selling something if I knew I could replace it with the same or better.

True...but let's stick to physical items :lol

Amen. I've sold my collection 10 X over. I can't even hang on to my own stuff.

My ICONS Loki mask. It was my first prop replica and it has way too much sentimental value. Besides, with the super inexpensive recasts that are readily available on Ebay, I don't think I could get anything substantial from selling it anyway.

EVERYTHING.

Agreed.

I sometimes find myself looking at some props and saying "I will NEVER sell that". Then my own mind says "What if you were offered $1000 ?", and I 'reply' no. "$2000 ?". No. etc.

My mind eventually ALWAYS comes up with a winning bid :lol

Not really true props but would never sell my M Replica Millenium Falcon unless i had no choice just a amazing piece i sold my Predator Cinemaquette so i could get it. And my AB Fedora which is rare now as i think steve does not make Adventurebilts anymore.
