props you will never sell?

there must be stuff that you can see yourself never selling (trading etc..), maybe because its your "holy grail" or its very rare?

i have stuff i will never part with, for example my r2-d2 when i finally get round to finishing him , simply because its taken more than 5 years to get where i am. no money is worth the time (unless its silly money:love)

others include my sideshow terminator head and endoarm, the cold cast bronze fifth element hand in my sig. oh and i always keep one of everything i sculpt.

and more recently my soon to be finished vibro axe.

so what about you?

edit, this thread is 11 years on and i still haven't put my r2 together...will it ever happen??????????

There are props I would never sell either because I had too much fun making them or someone close gave them to me. Though I might be willing to give them away in the spirit they were given to me. I gave away my Greedo Killer and I did a lot on that prop build. I've collected all the parts to build another one though.

Death do us part?

I always figured cremation but maybe it is not the way.

A small pyramid with all must stuff entombed with me.

Phaser and Communicator clutched in my bony hands across my chest like the pharoahs and their stuff.

Yes.

I must begin construction!

:lol Kind of how I envisioned my own....eh...looters though. :confused

I'll never sell:

- My Vader helmet
- real MPP
- real Obi ANH saber parts

There are a couple other pieces that would be awful hard to part with, but I probably would if the circumstances deemed it necessary.

My Red Book of Westmarsh replica - I spent around 18 months envisaging and then collaborating on that, so it has a personal relevance.

Other than that, my Luke Graflex with real calc bubbles...it's not irreplacable but it represents the SW saga to me in a simple, pure way. Lastly, my JAWS tooth cast from the original molds and signed by Joe Alves.

Everything else, I would sell if needed.

I don't think I'd ever sell any parts of my collection. I tend to be a "one-of-a-kind" type collector, meaning I only have one of all the pieces that I do have. While some people have 10 Luke ANH sabers, I have one. Built on a real graflex. And while I have real calc bubbles, I don't want to destroy the calculator to use them.

With the exception of the MR Motion tracker and a few MR prequel mini sabers, eveything else was built by me. The only two "kits" in my collection are my PKD and my MiM pulse rifle. And even those I spent a great amount of time working on. Every piece in my collection has sentimental value.

I've gotten rid of so much already....
But the things I have kept are my MR TOS tricorder and my Tom Baker sonic screwdriver. I think I'll have them for a very long time.

i hear you guys, yes there are props that are replacable but you just wanna keep the stuff that really matters to you.

my sculpts are sort of replacable if i can cast another but i would like to keep one of each as a record of what ive done. its very satisfying, freinds and family checking out my stuff.

i like watching there eyebrows go up and their jaws go down when i say how much $$ ive made:lol

i know EXACTLY what you mean. i had to put it away as i thought it would never end.

i suppose thats another thing i would not part with, ive just filled too many airholes to bring myself to sell.

My GW2 Pulse Rifle - unless it was to buy an SD :)

I doubt if I'd sell anything from my Zeiram screen-used prop collection.

I've been wanting to sell a lot of things in my collection for years now and just can't seem to bring myself to take the photos and set up the ebay. I keep making excuses and putting it off... So when I saw this post my first thought was, everything. :cry

BUT, if the choice was put to me by someone just making offers, I could never let go of my Eomer helmet. The costume is dear to me, but the helmet especially is my favorite of everything I've ever made... and it's signed by Karl Urban.

Everything else I'd probably be able to set a price on...

My AMCW badges made by Blad. Not because of any rarity but because it's the first "prop" my wife bought for me and she painted Sam Vimes' badge for me. Silly I know but thats just me:)
