Lauren Gail Andersen has made some nifty recreations of items from Larry Niven's "Known Space" universe. They include a Tasp, a Kzinti variable sword, and a Puppeteer disintegrator rifle...uh, I mean "excavator". Heh. Her site includes some detailed design and build-up galleries.

Larry Niven's awesome! Like the third one best. Speaking of Larry Nivens, read "Man Of Steel, Woman Of Kleenex" It's hysterical.
