Proportions Dillemma

I have a problem hoping someone can help me here. I have this full body costume I am making. However, the legs on the character are shorter than mine. I would like for the costume to fit correctly around the waist for when I turn and just basically to make maneuvering in the costume easier. I am attaching an image of my proportions compared to my character. Any suggestions would be gladly received. Thanks proportions.png

A simple soultion to allow you to keep the costume characters waist to be at the same level as your waist is to increase the size (height) of the costume character. The issue you would then have is you would not be looking out of where the characters eyes are but somewhere in upper chest/lower neck area. Many character/mascott costumes use this. I have tried to attch a file to show you what I mean , not sure it will work though. View attachment Proportions1.docx

I second Alpha Proto's idea. Especially with a character that has significantly large diameter thighs and waist, you can lower it all down and keep your mobility. Just me, but I would rig up a pair of pants with a round rigid waistline, and then wear it with a pair of suspenders. The extra size in the lower extremities will keep your mobility up, while the suspenders let the waist move around a bit too.

Just modify the basic idea behind this :lol

all great ideas..thanks. About the suspenders idea, I am still working on the slight fat suit that goes with it. So I guess I should consider this a 2 piece outfit. I wish there was a way of making the pants almost fit around my natural waist without flopping around from the suspenders
