Prop Store is excited to announce the Rick Baker-Monster Maker Live Auction, scheduled for May 29, 2015 at the Hilton Universal City in Los Angeles, California. We will have more than 400 lots from over 50 different films spanning the career of the legendary make-up effects artist. Come out to Monsterpalooza in Burbank, CA this weekend to be the first to preview lots from the auction!

In addition to the printed version, we are proud to continue our tradition of also releasing the catalog in an online interactive version complete with supplementary image galleries, featured video content for choice lots, additional written details beyond that available in the printed catalog and embedded links allowing collectors to bid on lots directly from the interactive platform. Prop Store is excited to announce a ten-part blog series that will be taking a deeper dive into the Rick Baker collection coming up for auction on May 29. The blog will give collectors and Baker fans a closer look at some of the highlight lots as well as some behind-the-scenes peeks at Baker's work and the secrets used to achieve some of his most famous creations. You can see the first two blog posts at the links below, where you can learn about some Cinovation Studios originals as well as a spotlight on the first MIB alien, Mikey. We then take a look at the work done by Tom Spina Designs during their time spent preserving the parts of the collection that required stabilization or restoration before going under the hammer. This week's Rick Baker blog article takes a look at the more natural side of creature make-up and discusses Rick's work in creating apes, gorillas, chimps, orangutans and other primates for a myriad of films. From Gorillas in the Mist, Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Mighty Joe Young, and Planet of the Apes, Rick is still the foremost expert on how to make a monkey suit look best.
