Prop Display "Storyline Sheet"

Hey all,

I just finished the sample of this yesterday. It's based off of the popular "Visual Dictionary" pages except completely custom and displaying any prop of the buyer's choice. This is the default "Classic" layout, which is just the simple, white-black VD basis. I'm working on 2 other layouts to give it flair if you're not a fan of the simplistic. The arrangement is not fixed, it all depends on the prop in question and each one is built from scratch.

Images provided via Rob Petkau of Genesis Custom Sabers (Genesis Custom Sabers), used with permission.

The Sample is sized at 8.5 x 11" (A4) at 300 DPI. I'm hosting it through Photobucket, which reduced the quality and the size, but if you'd like to see the original you can send me an email: durangusdesigns@gmail.com .

Clients have the option of receiving the page shipped to them printed and framed for an additional fee. Or they can just have it printed and shipped at no extra charge but shipping.

Let me know what you think. I enjoy having these for my personal collection and thought other people might as well.

This is very cool, so you could do this for any prop, any movie? Where do you get the info for the text?

Yes, any prop from any movie. I originally intended to do the sample with pictures from one of my favorite TV Shows, Stargate SG-1, but couldn't find a picture that suited the sample.

The information for the text can be provided by the client, word-for-word, or they can give me a general description and I can write it, or I can do it all, it's all dependent upon what the client wants. Generally I ask the client to provide the pictures, the "special features" of the prop (what makes it really cool, like in this one, the crystal chamber) in text, a general overview of the prop whether it is story, the prop's creation, or whatever the client wants, what they want included in the Data File box and what they want highlighted on the actual prop. Each one is made custom and tailored for what the client wants so I work with them to get it just right :).

Thanks for your comment! I'm glad you liked it. Hope it makes more sense now.

Very cool. I did something similar except I made one based off the PIH type page. Just did it for my own props as something for people to read about it if they wanted. Of course mine isn't nearly as professional. Here's one I did back when.

Nice job Rusty, and thank you for the compliments! :)

The VD version is pretty plain-Jane, but I'm working on spicing it up with theme-based backgrounds (such as Star Wars, Firefly, etc) as well as some custom ones. All in good time though.

The pricing for these is pretty low, I just upgraded my Adobe software to CS5, and some of the new features in PS specifically allow me to shave some of the time off making. It's $30 for a custom, from-scratch sheet based off of the VD's (The "Classic Layout"). That includes a .ZIP sent to your email with a Word .DOC detailing the transaction, the completed image as a .JPEG and the original images. I will also print it out at high-quality and send it to you at a small surcharge + shipping. For a little more, I print them, frame them and ship them to you. I'd rather charge $30 flat, but the printing + shipping costs too much for me to do that.

Not sure if there's any interest on getting these made, but thought I'd share.
