Prometheus' David Helmet

Since this hasn't been discussed on here, I thought I would make a thread specifically for it.

I'm in need of some opinions as to where I should start with the helmet. I was thinking a baseball batting helmet and then sculpting on the details with bondo and dremeling off parts that need to be removed.

Don't even get me started how I'll do the visor :wacko:wacko:wacko

Here are some reference shots:

Well, for the visor, I would think maybe some clear plastic (ex. from a plastic tote container) that would be sanded with a fine grit to make it more opaque might work. I did that for my Iron Man helm eyes, per Stealth's tutorials. I would think that plastic material would be flexible enough to where you could curve it to the proper shape. Once sanded, it wouldn't be as transparent as you might like, but you would more accurately achieve the yellowed look in the reference shots with proper LEDs(David appears to be looking down anyway, probably just screen direction there though).

I wouldn't be suprised if the base of the helmet in the movie was a hockey helmet.

A quick search of "hockey helmet with visor" brings up a lot of ones that could be used as a great starting point. And they come with visors already!
