Project: Tardis Bookshelf

So my Girlfriends birthday is coming up very close to our anniversary and she LOVES doctor who. I have seen a TARDIS bookshelf on here and elsewhere out in the internet. I want to build her one and am looking for any advice on this. Dimensions, a paint color that is closest to the TARDIS and the best way to incorporate the light at the top. Ideally I would like to have a button to make the sound.

Any help on this from fellow Whovians would be greatly appreciated.
