Project Hail Mary Film

I LOVED the Andy Weird novel and was slightly trepidatious about the film when they announced Ryan Gosling in the role. At the same time I am keenly aware that you need a big name to get these films made.
Having said that I do feel like the trailer captures the tone of the book fairly well, from what they've shown.
I didn't see Matt Damon as the title character in The Martian but that turned out to be a pretty solid translation to film of the original novel.

Perhaps I'll read the book first as the trailer didn't do anything for me till a few seconds near the end. It's usually the opposite since I tend not to watch trailers. And if I do, it's the first 15 seconds or so of the setup that's enough.

They’re just laying the story groundwork, introducing the protagonist as wholly unprepared for this appointment yet crucial to this mission. Oh boy, what this guy goes through… and through. There’s NO hint in the trailer where this really goes.;)

I am really looking forward to seeing this. (y)

A little bummed they showed it in the trailer but I love the look of Rocky! He appears to be a puppet! I was so sure he'd be a CGI critter, but they way he was moving in the brief glimpses of him definitely has practical little puppet vibes. Hope they don't end up replacing him with CGI later on, The Thing 2011 style.

I enjoyed the book very much. Looking forward to the film.

Hey Soulinertia ...please put me on the interest list if you do a run of mission patches from this one!

I'm super excited for this too! Rereading the book now (actually listening to Ray Porter do the audiobook this time around) and enjoying it just as much the second time around.

Can anyone help me ID these glasses Gosling is wearing? They’re similar to the Shuron Ronwinne frames but seem subtly different (shape of the bridge, less detailing on the temples).
