Hello!
(Just in advance, I apologize for any slightly grainy pictures!)
Today I've decided to finally unveil a project of mine that I've been working on for some time. In the past year or so that I've been heavily involved in my activity on this forum, I've always loved building and customizing things for myself and putting my own unique spin on things. I knew I loved putting my designs and such out for you guys to see, because constructive criticism is always something that I take in and really put it towards my future projects to iron out any possible problems or troublesome areas of design. When I did this, I noticed that a lot of people were interested in the work that I do, and I thought, "Why not do something that everyone can enjoy?"
This is great and all, but let's face the facts; not everyone has access to a machine shop to do their own custom sabers, but with 3D printing technology anyone can build almost anything from half way around the world, and that's what this project is designed to do. This allows anyone to use these as long as they have somewhere or someone to print their sabers. No matter if it's through an online service or their own DIY 3D printer in their room, anyone and everyone can do it.
I present, Project "EZ Sabers"

I started EZ Sabers to be exactly as they sound.... Easy! Everything is designed to be simple to assemble, using basic shapes as keys to help align and hold in place. All of the pieces are designed using exact dimensions from the ROTJ Hero Blueprint, however, I decided to make it symmetrical on the grenade section and a 6mm hole in the pommel instead of a 4mm hole. Aside from that small change, these are split into separate parts to allow for ease of use when using something like a 3D printer. Even the smallest pieces have been designed to be easy to create and put together, allowing anyone and everyone to enjoy a simple but good looking lightsaber replica!

As you can see, everything is housed together nicely, and with a little bit of paint and some super glue, you can have yourself a nice looking static display piece, like the one above! Yet, there's always more....
Not only are these designed to be simple saber body displays, they also are designed to be completely retrofitted with electronics to allow a more intricate and unique display. Custom designed from the ground up, it follows along the same rules of "plug and play" as the main body does. Individual pieces that snap together to create a great looking design for all of your saber building needs.

Divided into two main chassis pieces: the lower half holds your standard recharge port, a 28 mm premium speaker, and has 1.6" of room to perfectly house a Nano V3 (Sorry CF lovers) which is able to be mounted on a tray that can be taken out for easy access to your SD card. The recharge point is even made to sit flush with the pommel, which allows you to access it without having to take anything apart! There are also six rail attachments that I envisioned as a "power cell style" look to the bottom half of the chamber for a more aesthetically pleasing look, rather than a blank tube that runs the length of the lower portion.

The top half houses the smaller 18500 3.7 V Li-Ion battery, a momentary switch, and LED up to 8 mm in size and your crystal. Hollow tubes run throw the chamber design to allow for wires to be run through to hide all of the electronics that would normally be seen all jammed in. The two halves attach by simply sliding over one another and holding into place with some tight tolerances so that you can take it apart in case you ever need to re wire or upgrade anything in the near future.
Every bit of simulated tech here was painstakingly hand measured by myself with a micrometer to ensure the utmost accuracy when assembled. This way your parts don't interfere with each other when putting it all together! When all is said and done, you have a perfect chassis to house everything you need in one convenient package.

I forgot to update this image, so the old battery was being used here, so don't mind that! I'll re update it with a new render when I have time.
Finally, once it's all dressed up nice and fancy, even something as simple as this can look quite stunning...

For now, that will be all, but don't worry! This is only my first saber in a line of many, and as time goes by I will slowly start adding more and more to this thread.
A few things to end with: I want to hear from you guys! Everything you like or don't like, things that you think need to be improved or what not. Also, I want to know if you guy's have a saber that you want to see brought to life, because I'm always open to ideas!
Lastly, I will be making these available, but in a different way. I didn't join this site to make money, or sell products or do anything of that nature. I joined to be part of a community where we all have common interest in a hobby and to learn new things and show off collections and be inspired by all of the great creations that are on this site.
So that's why I've decided to release these files for free. No charge or anything hidden fees, I will be making these available as STL's for those that wish to print these on their own at home. At the same time, for those who don't have 3D printing access, I will be hosting these files on my Shapeways store. This way anyone can browse through and order their parts straight from the site without having to upload it themselves and go through the issue of getting correct dimensions and such. Giving back to a community that gave me a lot is just something that I think is right, and I don't think anyone should have to pay ridiculous inflated prices like you see on ebay for knock off replicas that aren't even all that great, just because it has the words "Star Wars" and "lightsaber" attached to it.
Thanks guys, and I hope to hear from you! Stay tuned for updates in the future!
