Profiles in History charity auction at Universal Studios

Nice. I can hardly wait until the final catalogue is available. The only problem is, between Profiles, Propworx, Heritage, Premiere Props, Christies, Bonhams, and Julien's, there are about fifty bajillion major entertainment memorabilia auctions going on in a 3-month period. My brain hurts and my wallet wants to strange me.

I agree.

For me, Profiles always has the coolest and best items every time.

This special November event has many iconic items donated by major studios, so it will be extra exciting. They are holding it inside of Universal Studios on a Saturday so you have the park and the auction to go to :)

Got to save our money ;)

We also have the December auction to look forward to, and many of the things they have then are pretty cool too.

I think it is because they know who you are, Larry. :) (just kidding)

Thanks for the heads up on this! :thumbsup

Of course not Larry ;)

Just send me a PM here and I will get it taken care of.

We are getting a lot of new member requests and have to go through them all, so it takes time.

Thanks :)

I'm sure all the big BTTF fans already knew, but until I saw the test photos in the auction, I had no idea that Eric Stoltz was set to be Marty. I feel like I was just let in on a big joke everyone else already knew. :) The Eric Stoltz entry at Futurepedia is interesting reading:

Eric Stoltz - Futurepedia - The Back to the Future Wiki

He filmed for a MONTH before being replaced with Michael J. Fox? Wow. To just trash a whole month's worth of scenes with him, his performance must have been phenomenally wrong. Surely no one today can really see him as a successful Marty after seeing Fox's brilliant performance, but it must have taken some real deliberation and balls during filming to just say "We're going to throw away a whole month's worth of filming because this Fox guy from that sitcom has to be better."

Do we know if they are showing these props in a public area before the acution takes place?

Thought I will list down all the 26 BTTF items from this auction. Looks like lot of the photo and paper prop estimates are quite low and will definitely reach higher numbers.

Seemed like there was some pretty enthusiastic interest in all the BTTF stuff. Luckily, there was nothing from BTTF that I wanted and that was in my range.

I really did want to nab that Tesla Gun, though, but wound up as the underbidder; just wasn't willing to go any higher and the other bidder pretty obviously was.

So, when is someone going to do a run of Tesla Gun replicas? :lol

The prices those paper props reached are simply astounding :eek

ahhhh ... iiiiiiiiiiiiiiif I were a rich man, daba daba daba daba daba daba daba doo ! :lol

OK, they're not screen used, but when I think that I got all my 'cool-looking' (IMHO), excellent quality bttf paper props for something like 20 Euro if memory serves me, sometimes I just wonder ........

Additional factors that probably drove up prices on the BTTF stuff:

Charity auctions almost always wind up with inflated prices.
Speeches were given by Bob Gale (live) and Michael J. Fox (recorded) just before the BTTF lots.
The auction proceeding will likely wind up on Syfy's Hollywood Treasure series.
