Production made Nostromo patches - Are they legitimate?

In the latest Propstore auction I noticed these Nostromo patches for sale

immediately thought they looked like the Thinking Cap replica patches. The stitching, specifically around the letters, look pretty close to me. I cant find any production patches that quite look like the Propstore ones. Any thoughts?

Yes as in they look the same or are the production patches legitimate? I should edit the title to make my question more clear.

I think they are reproductions. The originals don't have the blue line at the bottom, as I'm sure you noticed, and that's just the most obvious problem

A production binder with all kinds of patches from different productions, also with those Alien patches, was sold like 2-3 years ago at auction. They had several versions in it. Unfortunately I didn't save photos of that binder and haven't been able to track down the photos either.

yes, that looks very different from other screen-used patches I have seen before.

I wish there was more explaination on the provenance and more research shared for each Propstore item, for the price those items command, it would be nice to have a little bit more than a description for each lot.

Now, even that other production patch sold last year at propstore is also looking different:

and this one has a overall similar apperance to the previous one I posted but a different background material, that different background material being closer to the one I posted just above that has different embroidery colours. this is complicated!

All the previous patches I showed, despite the different colors on the contour of the second one, they all share all the same fabrication idiosyncrasies. The wire always start at the same position for all the text, the font is exactly the same, the details are the same.

However, that new patch from the latest auction is indeed extremely different. other that the obvious very different contour, the shape of each letter is different, the wire is never starting in the proper position and the center design is very different from the screen-used patches.

I'm pretty convinced this new patch is not correct.
I hope the buyer will get his money back and propstore will be more cautious in the future.

Yeah, looking through all the pictures I can find of the actors and their wardrobe, the obvious things I see on EVERY Nostromo patch that is missing from the ones in the auction are the lines from the star in the middle design, and the lack of the blue line on the bottom. In fact, that modern-looking professional blue border all the way around is missing on all the screen-used patches. Almost all of the screen-used ones have that frayed look around the edges like the ones Eethan posted above on the grid. Even still on the shirts/hats in the movie they look like that. (so it's not just from removing them from the wardrobe or something...)

But everyone that you can see clearly enough to make out detail has a line coming out of each point, and each valley, of the star in the center design, on both the light and dark designs. (So 10 total lines coming out from the star.)

Art Andrews , you mentioned in the Ghostbuster thread that you want to be made aware when the authenticity of a Propstore prop for sale is questionable, have you seen this thread, it seems pretty clear the patches are not authentic. I hope Prostore was able to deal with this issue.
cheers

eethan thanks for bringing this to my attention. Let us take a look into the provenance we have on this lot. If proven inauthentic, we will , of course, do the right thing.

Would be awesome if there was more provenance and research explained on each lot :)
In this case, provenance is not going to be enough I'm afraid, a lot of details are very wrong.

It could have been a sample sent to production for marketing approval or some such mumbo jumbo, but used in filming, no.
