I got my Vader armor today and it came with 3 cracks in it. I'm hoping I can fix it instead of send it back. Anybody have a rough estimate of what it would cost to get it patched and painted? I'm hoping the seller will agree to pay for the repairs. Thanks,

John

No chance of sending it back for a replacement? That level of damage sounds unnacceptable, to me.

Alternatively, you could patch it up with bondo, sand it and repaint it - but that's a lot of work for something you purchased as finished, by the sounds of it. :unsure

Yeah I'm still working with the seller on a couple options. He was going to yell at the company that packed and shipped it today. So far he's been real understanding. I'm going to take it to an autoshop tomorrow and get an estimate to see what it's going to cost to fix.

An autoshop will charge as much to fix as it would cost to buy a new one.

I hate sellers who mess people around like this. I recently got screwed over by a seller over a set of Vader armour, the set was smaller than his description (too small for me), I'd paid him extra to have it painted, when it arrived there was a patch where you could see grey undercoat under the laquer. He'd obviously run out of gunmetal paint and just decided to send it out in that condition. When I complained he just told me to send it back using special delivery (wouldn't accept a cheaper service even though originaly he'd set it to me using cheap standard parcels) and I'd need to send him the money to cover him sending it back to me Special Delivery. Took it to the post Office and they said it would cost me £25, so that would have cost me another £50 to sort out a set of armour that quite frankly I would end up selling as I can't wear it. I even asked if he could just refund me enough cash to cover buying the spray cans he'd used, at first he seemed to agree, but when I said it would cost £10 to buy the Halfords paints he told me 'to get lost'. Nice guy, hope karma gives him a damn good kicking. :angry

Did you use Paypal to pay for the item? If you did the seller has to use a shipping service with insurance, so either get him to claim through this, or complain to Paypal and they should get you a refund.

Where do you see they have to use a shipping service with insurance? I can't find that info anywhere.

To receive a set of armor in that condition is unacceptable IMO. It should be replaced no questions asked.

Do you have any pics you can share with us?

If it was portumac you got it from you have nothing to worry about he is a stand up guy from what i understand of him.

It wasn't him. I really think it was just packed poorly. The shoulder bells had bubble wrap around them and they are fine. HEre are some pics of the damage.

even with bondo the armor will never be like new...that kind of crack can propagate into the fiberglass again...even after being bondoed...never as strong as before....if there are three like that definitely you should ask for a refund or replacement....

Is this what the seller has offered you? I would simply ask him to replace it if he has another set.

Then again, if you are satisifed with this solution then more power to you.

I could help you fix it. I did it to a set of my own armor which had a very small crack. If you decide to go that route PM me and maybe we can work something out.
