Started cutting the legs up today, Will see how i go. Need something other than a dremel to make straight long angled cuts. Im thinking of getting a hobby circular saw or maybe a scroll saw for these kind of cuts in the plastruct???? How did you guys go cutting long straight cuts in the plastruct legs? at the end of the day i guess i could dremel them then sand the rest of the way flat on a flat surface with sandpaper. Would be nice to have a tool to do this though.

Hopefully this will get guys head around the colour, less is more and don't overdo.
These are the three colours you need plus an etch primer which unfortunately is only available in oz.
But any darkish grey undercoat will do as a base .
There is also three MIG dusts that I will post pics later of.
Everything needs to be done in one day preferably .
There is a sequence if painting and a way/form of buffing which we can go through more thoroughly shortly.
Lee are you gong to repaint yours or are you going to build the vacs?

I did it all by hand with the dremel & fret saw and home made sanding tools, I spent a lot of time sanding the ABS tube flat before joining them also to get a nice neat and square bond.

Hi
Sorry but what is the name/brand of the etch primer and what shop did you get it from
Thanks in advance

Basic tools here, razor saw, mitre, and some needle files pulls off a superb job TBH Rob. I trimmed out the straight cuts with an exacto, then cut the angles in with a razor saw, its easier than you think, and i managed some real neat work, the legs are a nice simple part IMO now, the head and body are the killer.

Re: Probe Droids "R" Us Club

Afraid so Rob. It was a while back Jason wanted to run these in alloy along with the very first ATST, and i did say, they aren't built that way, there very old school hard graft, but easier than you think, and sooooo satisfying to pull off. If i can get a run sorted on laser cut leg joint discs, ill be building a set again soon way more accurate, as we have more data now, and all the channel work is a breeze, its those pesky joints.
One thing that is a pain are the rounds to fit into the joints, they have to be spot on and run parallel to the next segment, but again, perseverance pays off, and i can't wait to see what you do as your work is so clean.

bests.........lee

Oh meant to say, I've still got all the molds for the Saturn V joints if anyone needs to use them, not sure if you guys were going full styrene, kudos if you do, but i found it easier to cast them, rather than make all those cuts and re joins in the cones.

Re: Probe Droids "R" Us Club

I can't afford a full parts leg now! Lol
I will cast why I have to but I know rob has all the sats ready.

Also Gans the can is from supercheap auto and you can also use the blue packaging one with the red car on it .

On the bottom it has a number ,
I don't have the number with me as I threw the can out once finished but I can go past supercheap and check it out.
