I am helping my friend make a Leia Prop Blaster like this one...

After doing a bit of research, we know that the modified gun part is a Soviet .22 Target Pistol.

Question is, has anyone built one of these? Where did you find the gun base? We were looking at airsoft guns to modify but could not find anything that was "pefect." Any ideas, hints, tips etc... would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Try to contact member Odiwan72. He at one time had a real Margolin pistol and was offering resin castings.

I have a resin one cast from a real gun and it's super-sweet. The casting even have the serial numbers engravings and all.

With all the import/export gun laws and such, a good resin gun is a good alternative.

That's where I got mine for the ROTJ version. I don't know if he still has or can get the real ones. I think this pistol is one of the most comfortable to hold though!

I contacted Odiwan72 and he said I am 6 years too late as the molds have been recycled. Do you happen to sell any castings off of the one that you have?

Someone here had the real deal for sale not too long ago. It was snatched up pretty quickly. Sure wish I had the dough at the time.

I have seen the real deal for sale for $250 to $700 recently.

ok, I am recycling this old thread - I want to make a "costume prop" leia blaster for a friend - it does not have to be SA - but can someone tell me what I can use for the barrel pieces? What are the 3 greeblies on the end?

The slotted part at the end is a original part of the base gun.

The ribbed thing is said to be part of a ultra rare model-engine.

And a curled cord, as used on old cable phones from the 80s.

Any update regarding this project? I am also looking for a more affordable alternative than the official replica.

I've built one of these for my daughter- fairly simple, in fact. And yes, Airsoft, though expansive, does not make a Soviet .22. But, with some changes, you can comfortably use the Luger they sell.
