Princess Leia ANH blaster… help required

Very nice! Looking forward to seeing how the 3d printed replica looks :) odi these look very nice and I imagine they'll look nicer with an Alu barrel

Skyminer… how's the 3D coming along really looking forward to seeing how it turns out! Sounds like a very interesting and fun process.

Funny, that my comment reg. Darthhair being an obvious recaster seems to be ignored :rolleyes

BTW: Keen on seeing that 3D print myself!

I didn't ignore you either. In fact thanks to you, I've decided to start recasting your work as well. THANKS! :p

Seriously, will you have kits to build both the A New Hope and the Return of the Jedi versions?

MJF:
I only offered a kit of the plain Margolin back the days, not sure if I am keen on doing the grills and muzzles as well.
Maybe Russ or our fellow machinist DEC could offer these parts parallely in case of a run!?

If you´ll find a Margolin yourself, feel free to offer casts to this community yourself and safe me a lot of hassle and time ;)

Sounds like the potential for a great active project. If we could find talented members willing to machine and/or cast the needed addition parts, it would help a large number of members here to add the blaster(s) to their collection.

3D printed objects can be printed at various resolutions and densities, which contribute to their overall look, finish, and how "robust" they are. If it's something that is going to be trooped with or used, I can print it at 100% density, so basically the equivalent of a hunk of ABS plastic. If it's just to display somewhere, I can print it lighter. The one I'll be printing initially will be 100% density and .1mm resolution, so I'll take some pics and we'll see how it looks/feels.
How's it coming along? Can't wait to see it :)

It's actually printing right now. I've got a few parts of it printed, but a couple curled a bit, so am reprinting. Hopefully I'll have pics up tomorrow or Monday.

Let's wait and see the stone's been thrown!!:rolleyes

Well, it's finally done. The one in the picture was printed solid, so it's very strong and robust. This is the print pretty much as it came off of the printer, with the individual pieces being glued together, a quick sand, a hit of black paint, and a little silver dry brushing.

Overall, a pretty good looking blaster for the time it took. Credit goes to AprilStorm for modeling the blaster.
