Predators - This Bugs Me

i couldn't find the pic i was looking for thanks for the help. I always liked P2's face, i never really noticed that it had the same problem until i saw the screencaps posted earlier.

I would think that this problem would most likely be due to thin foam latex, but then again, i truthfully don't know THAT much about what they used. just a guess.

I was watching Predators on my phone this afternoon and realized there is something that I really dislike. The "Classic" P1 is very much the original in the 1st movie - with the exception of one major malfunction. When he closes his mouth the cheek flaps bend INWARD!!! This looks ridonkulous! Open mouth, the Pred looks ok but I really don't like the way the cheeks bend:

hi my friend!!!! do not worry about it
think that is the same
that our girlfriends have
and which in the course of time also becomes flaccid :)

About the roaring: it's funny how they put stuff in trailers that never occur during the movie. You can actually hear the original P1 roar in the trailer for Predators: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9u8vZwvP57Y (1:44)
The part where Royce got the 26415896 crosshairs on his body never occured either.

LOl i like this! Run away from reality and threw me in a surreal world ... this is my response to the system! no use kicking we'll all die anyway!

Agree with everyone else. While I liked the new Predators in the latest movies, the faces of the AVP Predators have just been sad. The P1 from Predators kinds looks like a P1, but when you look at them side by side, there are a lot of differences.

Not knocking anybody here but isn't it safe to say that not all Preds should look alike, whether it be P1, P2, Wolf, Scar or even Celtic.

Totally disagree. Europeans, Africans, Asians, Island, South American tribes, etc. If you look up facial characteristics of the various races, you will find the "generalized" differences between them all that go far beyond skin color and hair type, such as slope of the forehead, roundness of the face, shape of the eyes. Even an original Predator appearing in Predators, IMHO, SHOULD look slightly, if not, significantly different, yet still retain certain race-like characteristics, such as tusk structure and count and crown shape, skin patterns...

I just really, really hate those flappy-ass cheeks. I mean really, according to IMDB, the estimated budget was $40,000,000; they couldn't afford full-blown silicone masks, let alone a redo once that POS was brought out?! F-ing SERIOUSLY?!!!

Not arguing they should all look exactly alike, but I really feel like the P1 set a tone and a style that has not been matched since the first movie.

I also dislike how his quills contrast too much with his skin tone. The P1 had some brown added to his eyebrows, but Classic just has that yellowy color which makes the quills stick out like a sore thumb.

but the wolf predator dident have this problem...............did he????? ,but saying that he had a scared up face and well yh they might of niticed this error and tryed to correct it/cover it up by doing that o_O ...just a thort

Wolf didn't have the problem in AVPR at all, as far as i know they used silcone which is what they used in the first 2 movies for the mandibles. Thats what someone says on the bonus features disc on the dvd. Someone correct me if i'm wrong but i've watched the movie so much i've not noticed a single problem with the mandibles.

According to Steve Wang, they used Dental Dam on the mouth in P1.

I actually think the mouth flairing out like that is maybe down to just poor planning on the original sculpts, if they had sculpted the cheaks curving in alittle more and they would naturally fold inwards instead of occassionally doing the weird bendy out thing.

but then again these guys are pros, so maybe im talking rubbish o_O

No again the only two Predators that did not have this problem was P1 and Wolf.

Nope I watched every scene with him in it with his Bio off and does not occur for him @ all. I was taking screen caps from AVP-R it is not there.

That's what I thought when I first noticed the flaw

Thanks man, just wanted to be sure as all o_O

Mostly because the physiology of Wolf didn't allow him to actually close his mandibles, which made him look odd IMO.

But I think Lee has the key issue: sculpture: if sculpted with closed mouth, it would allow some stretching, but not too many bendys. Also, a bended reinforcement out of plastic in the cheek would allow better collapses I guess.
