Predator remake news

Check out the comic series, Alien vs Predator : WAR; it's got that "planet full of aliens vs a platoon of predators", very cool

Well, having Guillermo del Toro on this may not be such a bad idea. He made Pan's Labyrinth really great, its a beautiful movie with the scenes, costumes and in the same time very gruesome with the stephfather.
But one problem would be, when would he have the time? He has alot of movies going on right now and wont be free until years from now.
The other thing, is how he would choose to make the movie.
Make it as a work of art as Pan's Labyrinth, or more Mimic style.
But i am sure that if he wanted, had a good script and all that, we would see a new kind of Predator.
Only question is: if its a good one, or a bad one.

Don't forget that he did the Hellboy movies and he's directing The Hobbit. He would probably do a good job. At least he's a hot director now, but yeah, it would be years before he could do it, especially since they said that they're gonna split The Hobbit into two movies! And Peter Jackson is producing them, so he's out too.

After some thinking, I've changed my mind. The allure of the predator isn't what he's fighting. It's the Predator himself. Having him fight tons of aliens and marines just lowers him to a brawler, out kicking ass for the hell of it. Is that how we want the Predator to look? I sure as hell don't.

Going to the comic books has already been done. It was called AVP. The problem is it was just done extremely badly, with one eye on how much they needed to change so they didn't have to give the comic writers any money or recognition. If you don't believe me, go back and read 'Prey'. From the humans unwittingly becoming involved in the hunt, the strong female character (Or Machiko, as we know her) and the virtually unarmed Scar taking on an Alien queen at the end after joining forces with the human...AVP was a really **** version of Prey. I mean I like AVP, for all its faults, but just imagine how much better it could have been if they hadn't monkeyed around with it.

I don't want an in depth look into Predator culture, or backstory...I want to see a Pred or group of Preds (no more than 3) being the ultimate fricking hunters they're supposed to be. Set it in Afghanistan or Israel between the military and whatever terrorist group you feel like, if you MUST be topical, and drop the preds in the middle. **** me, that story practically writes itself.

I saw the news other day on movieweb i think it should be interesting to watch though i dont see it as a remake being Robert Rodriguez wants to incoporate more than one predator so i say its more its on entity

Well I just want to see the Predator! However if they're serious about spending big money on a "new" Predator movie, why not just make a Predator 3? There's no reason in my opinion to do a re-make of the original, as it still stands up well against anything around today. It does'nt look dated, and probably never will, as its set in the jungle you don't have things like cars, fasion etc to put a date on it. Its a classic action movie that should be left alone. Yes lets have more of the Predator, buts lets have a new story, with new, fresh ideas. There's no need to rush it, It's been a long, long, long time since Predator 2, so give it the green light, then get it right, no matter how long it takes.

If double R IS doing it it'll be the happiest day in my life.

I DID have an Idea similar to AVP:R, except it's a "serial killer" pred in place of the predalien. And no aliens.

Pred goes on murderous rampage in a pred ship. Pred escapes to earth. Elder chases him. Pred picks of humans in very un-pred like style (low blows, un-honorable stuff) The elder tries to stop him. THe humans try to befrend the elder, but the elder just shows the murdurer how to REALLY hunt. To the human's disadvantage...

then he kills the murdurer.

Makes it virtually "Bad Blood" and thus tacky to pull off...

Personally, I never saw Pan's, but I thought Hellboy was great and Hellboy II was even better. I'd be very happy with him doing a Predator movie, and I'd be willing to wait for years until he's free to do it.

Actually I think a Bad Blood style movie would be really interesting. It would give us a chance to see a little more about Yautja culture, plus the audience would probably be able to bond a little better with the elder or abritrator that's there to hunt down the bad blood that's killing humans left and right.

Another one I think would be a cool (no pun intended) movie to see made would be Cold War. Although, I'd prefer the Predators not to die..................................

I don't know how many of you remember this but in October last year, Fox producer Rothman commented on his willingness to do a Predator 3(and the notion of a remake). Well according to horror website Bloody Disgusting, it isn't a sequel but a remake that is underway:

"We've got a holy **** scoop for you that's going to have half of you screaming in excitement and the other throwing tomatoes. A reliable source dropped us a line revealing to us that Robert Rodriquez and his Troublemaker Studios will be producing the Predator reboot for 20th Century Fox. "

According to the scoop, the remake will involve a group of Predators as opposed to the one. You can check out the whole thing over at Bloody Disgusting. Now remember guys, this is only a rumour. I'm waiting back on official comments from Fox. Thanks to Lovely Man for the heads up.

EDIT: According to my contact at Fox PR, I was told there are currently no plans for any Predator re-make in the theatrical division.

Know I dont know who to believe. ;)

Ditto!

They don't need to talk in some stupid language. It can be all face, body, and action for a few minutes to set up what the bad one did.

Hell, just start by SHOWING what the bad blood did, and then show the Elders choosing an arbitrator to go after him. Very little or really, no dialogue needed.

I doubt they'd even go that complex, as in order to do it, they'd basically have to copy AVPR. More like the bad blood commits a crime in front of another pred, and that pred hunts him down for it. Cue humans caught in the crossfire. I still don't particularly like the idea though, I don't think it would translate easily to a movie. More badass hunter pred please.

This just in from AVP galaxy!

Just speculation then? :(
