Predator remake news

Again I say we nominate Rob for official pred movie critic and commentator. Couldn't have said it better---love your prose, amigo! ;)
Regardless of who should or shouldn't make the suits for the next installment----It's not fair that ADI was given a ridiculously abbreviated amount of time to design and construct the suits for AVP-R, compared to AVP. Rob's sarcasm about that point is well founded.

While i like you agree with Rob, i do not agree with the ADI comment, i mean have you seen the AVP elder mask?

SUCKED MONKEY BALLS! i tell ya M O N K E Y B A L L S!! if they had much more time , why not put alittle effort into it.

Send the pred home to the Winston Studios.

The biggest problem they keep having is the lack of a good script, and good director.

I agree only partly. I think it's the package deal. A weak script can be made up for by good/believable acting / a good director, and it's an action movie after all. The basic P1 plotline and script wasn't The Departed or Shawshank Redemption either, it was simple and not something hitherto unheard of. BUT the actors, despite not the best "actors" per se, all were believable in their respective roles, and that's more than can be said for ANY of the sequels. Danny Glover... sry, I like P2 a lot, too, but Glover wasn't that believable. And don't get me started on Lex in AVP and the bunch of teenagers in AVP-R.

A P1 remake... well, **** me, never!!! I often thought about Terminator being remade. It's the best movie of the series IMO, but it looks a bit outdated...very outdated, in fact. However, a remake couldn't obviously beef up the F/X, it would incorporate CGI, and Terminator SCC vividly shows, how sadly that would and. Not to speak of the rest, like different actors/acting, script, blockbuster-orientedness and all.

However, P1 doesn't even need that much. There's hardly any F/X that need to get beefed up - the cloaking device is the only I could think of, and that's not even a crucial part of the film at all. Everything else doesn't look 1987 AT ALL, when you think about it!! The only hint is Arnie's face and form. Fashion, cars, music - everything that anchors a "normal" movie in its era.... simply isn't there, there's not one scene in urban surroundings, the only piece of music was old by then already, and the camouflage fatigues masquerade all the crimes of contemporary 80s clothing !! It's a truly timeless movie!

^Totally agree with P1 not visually being out dated.

I remember reading, I think in EW magazine, that a T1 remake was in the talks, but they scratched it and have decided to highly consider 2 more installments of Christian Bale in a new'er Terminator trilogy. They already know it's going to be a summer blockbuster (other than competing with Transformers 2), that if you google search, i'm sure you'll find news about 2 other Terminator potential installments.

i think he was all that....

but we're all entitled to our own opinion.

it don't make it right or wrong,...it just makes it your own opinion

I think a Re-vamp on the original is an absolute abomination. You cannot remake a classic without something getting fragged.

Anywho, they can make another PREDATOR film, and call it the third. No sense in trying to update the original, just make a new one, and DONT **** IT UP!!!

Nonsense! I'm sure my opinion is, and has been, wrong on many occasions..

I thought that the Wolf character was a welcomed change from the creatures from AVP, but I just thought that he was lacking. That's just my opinion though. I didn't like the way his face was brought out more and angled to give him a feline look. I don't like the way the back of his head didn't come out far enough over his back. I really didn't like the fact that they used mechanical eyes instead of the actors. I know they did this same technique in the other Predator films, but there's just a creepy element being able to see the eyes and their ability to convey emotion; unlike crazy robot eyes. His mouth opened up way to much it was bordering on "characture." I like watching the Wolf in AVP:R, and most of my quirps are just semantics, but I'm just not a big fan. Again you just can't please everyone.

I think for variety they should've used more of Farzhads(SP?) drawings. He had a lot of really cool and unique ideas, and it's like he did all that work for nothing. Granted, I think the "Battle Claws" were kinda silly, but they could work if there were to be someone on the set with some creative ingenuity.

If there is to be another Predator movie, fine. I think it should take off right at the end of Predator 2. Tie all three films; Predator; Predator 2; Predator 3 together. No Aliens, no space, no Colonial Marines. That's all Aliens stuff... not Predator. The skull in the trophy case should be the only Alien we see/saw. There will be no Arnold Schwarzenegger, Danny Glover. I'm sick of reading that the Predator alone can't carry his own movie without either of those two being in it somehow. Who ******* cares? Arnolds the Governor of California, and Danny Glover is "too old for this ****."

O.T. - I did do a few drawings of the Predator, and a few really odd-ball stories in kind of a "what if" scenario. Basically, he didn't die at the end. Severly wounded, yes. He abandons his clan to essentially wander the galaxy hunting all kinds of crazy-ass ****. Like some kind of horribly violent and gorey vision quest. He got his ass handed to him by an aging Danny Glover, so he really needs to get his **** together. Fast-forward through some really brutal ninja-like battles and he now needs to get his **** back-now that he's proven to himself and the Elder he has become "enlightened," and less of a dumbass. It really got a bit too "scifi fan-boy" when I decided that they had the technology to re-grow lost limbs. Yes... I went there. Then there's the bit where he has to get his equipment back from the government, and eventually a show-down with Harrigan in which he is beaten into the 4th dimension of pain. Cheesey, I know, but I thought it'd be neat and not to mention to see an older, wiser P2 with a massive scar on his chest. I'm not exactly a writer, but I mean well!!!!!!

Well hey, that's why we're all here...we all have our faves. I had some issues with the way Wolf acted (not the actor, but the story itself) which sort of spoiled him for me.

If they decide to go ahead with a new movie I would really like to see less of a reliance on gadgets by the predators. I really like the idea of the predator being a bad ass fighter with hand to hand weapons, as in the comics where Broken Tusk took down about a dozen aliens with nothing more than a spear. How that would work in the context of human soldiers I don't know...pitting an 8', 450lb alien against your average special forces soldier seems just as fair as it did in Predator or Predator 2. Maybe a clan of predators taking on an entire regiment...?

I'd like to see something epic along the lines of LOTR. How about an entire Planet full of ALiens versus an army of Predators and Humans (so there will be some dialogue and explaining ideas to the audience). Telling you Epic!

20th Century FOX you seeing this?

I will wear my suit to the theatre opening day. Give these people in this podunk town I live in something to talk about. Probably be in the newspaper here

I like the Wolf design a lot and was very content. I just had a big problem with the tons of missed shots that he fired at the aliens.
P1 is well done enough that you can look at the movie and feel like it's still a recent film. It is a classic that which requires no retelling or retooling.

I think they should try and redeem themeselves by doing a worthwhile AvsP movie using a good script & good director. I still say that all that needs to be done is to redo a similar "Aliens" movie and add a twist by trowing some Lost Hunters type preds in to the mix. Just think about it. Far off planet with Aliens, Space Marines and Hardcore Lost Predators to boot.

Why does everyone want to see hordes and hordes of Predators going up against a swarm of Aliens? There are other alien creatures out there that're probably a hell of a lot more dangerous than the "Aliens" we know. Why is it necessary for the Predator and Alien to be permanently intertwined? A Predator movie will never be a movie of that size due to the following factors - No Tom Cruise, lightening, cliffs, magic, or Mel Gibson.

The Predator needs to move far, FAR away from the Aliens. It needs to go back to it's roots... and unfortunately it started with the Predator alone and not Aliens. While at the time I'm sure it was funny when they put the Alien skull in the trophy case, but now I curse that day. They couldn't have possibly imagined that, that little stunt would've bollocks'ed up BOTH franchises. Thanks Dark Horse! I think that if they want to do another Aliens Vs. Predator movie, they should consult the original comic series. I don't see why they wouldn't seeing as how the majority of the work has already been done for them. The story was written, character designs etc., as well. Im surprised they didn't do that in the first place seeing as how FOX has become even more cheap and lazy.

On a sidenote, everyone keeps clamoring for James Cameron and Ridley Scott to return to the Alien franchise, and McTiernan to return to the Predator films. Why? Where the **** are the awesome directors of my generation? Where are the new guys that're supposed to take the reins from Lucas, Spielberg, and all of them? Ah well, I digress.

One thing that really pissed me off about AVP:R, was the fact that they got rid of the Predators trademark roar, and replaced it with a cheap sounding, generic noise. I swear I've heard that same roar in like 10 different movies. WEAK.

Plant full of aliens against a army of preds, would be epic i agree.

A ******* EPIC DISASTER!

Basics , go back to basics FFS!

I agree with you on the director's comment Rob, they should be looking at guys like Peter Jackson for the new predator films.

I feel that FOX is going to go with the Lost Hunters in the next movie...a tight knit group of Preds with their own wonky code of honor...and maybe a rogue Pred gone bad. Otherwise known as Bad Blood...I have a feeling...

Thanks! Perhaps they should. I like Peter Jackson for the simple fact that he did what he loved to do. I mean, come on have any of you see HIS movies? Dead Alive, Bad Taste... most of you might not like those movies, but they were done with passion. Before he had millions of dollars thrown at him to do remakes and interpretations. I think that either him, or Guillermo del Toro could do some awesome stuff with the Predator or Alien. Atleast when they direct they give the feeling that they have some kind of control over their project. Unlike most of these mother fuckers just bending to the whim of the studios. I understand that they have families to feed, too, but come on show some balls.

I wouldnt mind seeing the Preds fight a different type of Alien something big and evil which could kill them in a hit. Something not so easy to kill something that won't run but keep coming at him untill it dies or you die.

All this talk of a Predator movie has me all hot and bothered.TO WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN (FOX).....DONT F#$K IT UP.....LISTEN TO THE FANS....WE HAVE SPOKEN.

"No writer"
"No script"
"No director"
