Ok, so I am working on my son's Halloween costume and need to make about a dozen or so dreadlocks for his Predator helmet.

They need to be lightweight.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

If you can still find them anywhere, you can cut down and reshape those pool noodle things - the big, long, brightly colored foam pool doowhackies. You should be able to get quite a few out of each one.

Look for backer rod at Home Depot, Lowes etc. Its a round foam for filling crack before caulking. You can cut it to length, shape the tip to a point with heat and then use spray on black Plasti-dip to color it. The foam is a gray color already. It is very lightweight as well.
This is what alot of Predator costumers use. Here's a mask I made using it.
