I have not seen Alien Vs. Hunter yet, but I saw the cover of the box and it was a definite rip off....

No, no they weren't the Skarrans. They were literally short Predators. They had almost identical helmets and really long dreads off the back and were some kind of mercenary/warrior.... I cannot recall their names, but they were only in a few episodes.... These guys:

Took me a while but the race you are looking for are called the Charrids...Ya visually they are a rip off of predator (when in the armor) but the way they act...nothing like predators.

THe Charrids are "employed" by the scarrans and run the security force for them on that station so the best bet would be those episodes

Yep, those are the episodes. And yes, Farscape is out on DVD. And I know they are rip offs visually only, but visually they are seriously major Predator RIP OFFS ! Much more so than the Hirogen... and who here thought the Jem'Hadar were the first ever Predator rip offs, raise you hand... :::raises hand:::::

That's just terrible. Bordering on HACK. I guess they were so hard up for ideas they sought to just "borrow" from other movie aliens. Farscape was a cool show. I used to watch it when I'd get home after work on Fridays, and eat tons of pizza. But, unfortunately, like most cool sci-fi series it just went way too out there and totally lost me.

Here's what I don't understand - Predator was made during the explosion of "Cheesey '80's action movies," and Predator 2 was no different. BUT some how they're better movies than AVP and AVP:R? What is it about Predator and Predator 2 that makes both films so much better than the recent additions to the franchise? No, really, these are honest questions because I want to know WHY. I want to know why some fans love the first two movies more and why some fans love the last two installments. What exactly does it for you? Why do you want a Predator 3 or an AVP 3? I guess the question I'm asking is WHY? Just.... WHY? Why do you YOU want an AvP3 or a Predator 3? Why?

P1 felt real, it was a realistic backdrop (though being cheesy) to let an alien hunt in.
P2 was far less when it comes to being a proper film, but was entertaining.

AVP took a bit of both franchises and mixed them. The result was a movie that felt like a cocktail with a bitter taste, that of recognizing the original drink but feeling it is watered down for mass consumption.
AVP-R was, from a storytelling point of view, a poor excuse to show us as much gore and creature as possible and it neglected virtually all suspension...

Pred 3 . Definately. But as said in other posts....he needs to win. And someone needs to answer my prayers and develop a GOOD next gen console predator game. I dont suppose anyone has heard any rumors of a game?

I have to agree with skullsplitter pretty much on the way the films feel.

Even though the 1st 2 were cheesy they still remain more watchable than the AVP series.

Rob, for me personally, as cheesey as the 1st 2 were, they still had a BIG film feel, ACTION stars of the era were involved, someone had actually thought about the plot for more than a single day, suspense was built up and the Pred was still a bad assed hunter. I suppose i could go into all the little things that i like and feel were done alot better, but we go over this subject a few times a year.

AVP screwed the pred completely, i mean they pulled down his undies, bent him over and buttfucked him till he couldnt walk straight for a year!
Personally the whole frozen queen was a stretch, but it could have worked and been a better film, ( just like Alien Res, the basic idea of cloning ripley was good, UNTIL they went off on some random newborn ****. ) only they didnt wait till half way into AVP before they ****** it up, they just ****** it from the start.
PG13 WTF !!!!!!!! oh thats right, trying to attract a wider audience.
ok then why dont we make the next freddy a PG, have him come tickle kids to death with a feather duster in their dreams! **** OFF !

Actually im not going to go on any further with AVP, scars leg humping WWE preds etc, bah .

AVP-r deserves similar lashing, ONLY the pred comes out of it with any sort of credibility left intact. And he barely gets away with that. i mean they just cut every corner known to man, and then made a few corners up and cut them, Sounds directly from the original films, Names, tombstones with past characters names, no suspense etc etc. cast , what cast, i mean FFS the lead male was dense **** from ******* RESCUE ME, i kept waiting for someone to say " i have to go see a holistic doctor" and him pipe up with " why is there something wrong with your hole?"
while AVP stunk, AVP-r stunk of CHEAP.

as much as i did like the idea of Preds and Aliens paths crossing , I hope they go back to seperate films, at least that way theres a possibilty of someone thinking about a script, and them relying on a it along with the cast, rather than throwing the pred and alien in the film and watching them fight.

While I could bear watching AVP again, I only looked for the action in AVP-R last sunday. And I am most deeply dissapointed by the total lack of sharpness in the copy on DVD (and in cinema here too), for most trailers and scenes that were released at forehand were razorsharp and vibrant in color.
