Predator 2 Original Hardcopy Stunt Disc

I would post these in the reference section, but I'm not allowed to do anything there. I've been following this board for years, but have a low post count. I'm ashamed.

This is the disc on which the Icons reproduction was based. The servos came separately and at a later time. I have a pair of early castings of this disc done by Icons as well. And one day I'll share photos of the various Icons base masters I've hoarded (bio and spear).

It’s too bad Master Replicas never did the disc based on the masters I provided them. After we did the spear, and it didn’t sell so well, the disc project was nixed. I always thought they should have done the disc first. I think it would have sold like hotcakes:

What is the switch for?
Since this was cast off the hero for use as a stunt unit in the film, we can only assume that the hero has/had a switch in that location. It's just an interesting tidbit.

I also find it strange that there’s a cavity in this unit. Maybe they were toying with the idea of making it a functional unit but abandoned the concept?

I own both of those (I’m the owner of the original disc holster on the Predator 2 leg—that casting came from me), but I don't put this disc on either. It sits on a stack of plastic USPS sheaths for US Customs forms—don't ask.

I have a lot of cool stuff that sits around in weird places and isn’t displayed...like the Smithsonian.

The disc in the middle is made from castings that I believe originally came from me. They were provided to someone at Master Replicas who later sold them. I don’t think that disc opens and closes. It’s simply set to be open.

The disc to the far right is a very interesting modified disc variant. I’ve never seen that version built-up so it could open or close. That’s pretty cool.

There are at least four fan-created variants floating around out there. I consider the HCG disc to be in that group, as it wasn’t cast from a screen-used disc.

The first of the replica discs was the one produced by ACME Models in the 1990s. They also did the first P2 bio helmet. I was fortunate enough to correspond with the former owner of ACME for awhile. He generously gave me an original ACME disc kit and helmet—both of which I still own.

When it comes to the opening and closing mechanism of the hero disc, I actually know how that works. It’s just too hard to describe in a post. I’ll show everyone how it functions (if they don't already know) when I eventually build my own replica from as many castings from original parts as possible (I’m very close). Once you see exactly how it’s done on the hero seen in the film, you’ll go, “Aha!”

Hey philippes,
Being since you were not able to post the pictures in the reference section for Predator 2 with your permission I will go ahead and do that for you if you would like in it's corresponding folder?
I also can't wait to see the future posts about the Disc I want one from HCG. I think I might get that next year off of eBay if I can find a trust worthy seller, which that is a literal pain.

Yes. Please. Do.

Shame on you phillippes....kiddin.

thank you for sharing these images
Long time no talk, Kithunter. I remember when this place was a twinkle in your eye.

I took those photos specifically for the forum this past weekend. It took me long enough to share here, no?

Figured I would chime in.

Way back I traded a member of the Lair here for a P2 disc.

He explained to me it was a Prototype for a master replicas disc. 1 of only two in existence.

It looks identical to the first post you made.
For what it's worth it came with a nameplate that read master replicas prototype disc.

Thanks for the pictures! I love P2 items and love seeing them discussed.

I don't recall exactly, but I know I provided at least one disc and servos to Master Replicas.

I'm certain you received one of my discs--there's no doubt about that--since the servos and plaque are clearly from me.

I am really curious now. I will snap some pictures of it when I get home tonight.

I re-read your post to try and make sense of it. But I am still a bit confused.
Does this mean I have a copy of a copy of the original disc?
Or do I own a replica prototype based off the original disc you own?

Either way this is interesting stuff.
Pred History if you will.

It's somewhat of a long story. I'm going to have to take a little time to write it all out and post it later on.

Technically, you have the casting of a casting taken from the original stunt disc I own. And you received one of the prototype sets I provided to Master Replicas as part of the commissioned work I did for them on the hero disc they were going to make many years ago.
