PREDATOR 2.0

I have a quick, albeit very bizarre, question x3 I'm hoping to go to my first UK comic con all dressed up and I'm starting to shop around and start looking at costume elements. As its my first time costuming as a Predator, I've come up with a good alternative for the actual bodysuit and potentially the accessories too, so it leaves me a bit more cash to get a really good mask.

I absolutely LOVE the masks you have up for sale and I am more than happy to pay the extra for a painted job and the dreads and the shipping My question is this;

what size head did you make the masks for?

I ask this because I'm a fairly dainty woman ^-^; I'm only about 5' 4" and my head isn't necessarily large either. Would the masks fit me okay? Or might I require anything like interior padding?

Thank you for any help, it will be greatly appreciated!

Sure, let me first say thank you for asking in the thread. I get alot of email questions and it seems alot of people want to know the same things so it saves me from answering the same question a bunch of times. I have a pull from the origional winston studios mold and kevin peter hall was a massive dude. He was like 7' 4" and with the costume probably near 8 foot. When i hold the origional pulls up to my head its hard to even see out of the eyes are so far apart. SO, i made this mask to fit all the "normal" sized people out there. It doesent fit all loose and floppy like a halloween store mask, those have to fit everyone so they make them huge. This mask is designed to fit snuggly, and it was made with my lifecast. It should be a little large on you, but with it being foam filled it will hold its shape, then all you need to do is wear a head wrap or somthing to fill out the extra space. If you fit its a little to big you can always cut a V shape into the back of the neck where the slit is to get it on, and when you close it up it will take in extra space. So long all in all, im pretty sure it will fit and look fine. Let me know if you have anymore questions, im always happy to answer them. One of my old instructors said it best- "dont be afraid to ask if your not sure, i like it when people ask me questions, that means you think i know what im talking about." Lol love that line ;)

Wow, thank you for such a quick response! ;)

I did see the test video and photos and thought 'wow, that looks normal-sized!'. I was worried that, because I'm not going down the latex suit road, the head would look over-sized xD

I have until roughly July of next year before the comic con, or even until this time next year if I go to the big London one, so its plenty of time to save up

I do have a couple more questions if that's okay? ^-^;

Firstly, my character concept has long dreads that are held together in big pleats. Is there a custom dread option?

Secondly, are you comfortable doing a custom paint job that includes exotic colours and stripes?

If it helps, this is my concept - Voodoo 1 + Voodoo 2

EDIT: OH I FORGOT! What is the 'perma-wet' mentioned as part of the paint job? Does that make it constantly shiny? Would the mask be at risk from degrading if I didn't want a shiny finish?

Awsome, i hope to see you at comic con! I plan to be there in 2011, but i gotta get this all finished too. You could make it transition to your neck with a neck ring. If you cut a V like i said and then put a neckring over it and make it kinda tight should look peachy. Longer dreads can be done but they become a pain. I made realy long dreads on my first predator mask but they wound up being very heavy and distorting the mask because of the weight pulling down. Now granted those were latex, and these are foam so they will be MUCH lighter, but they will still add weight, and that can also make them fall off easyer. So it can be done but it will take more work to deal with them. With the paintup i can do anything you want, i just ask for half upfront to protect me if somone cancels and i am stuck with somthing crazy lol. And perma-wet is a product i use to seal the paints, and make it look glossy/wet. It comes from monstermakers and its realy great stuff, it realy protects the paintup, makes it water proof, and makes it always look wet. Hopefully that helped, let me know if there is anything else i can help with.

Oh yeah, that would make sense about the longer dreads. Hmm, food for thought. Might just need to substitute long dreads for added accessories in the dreads instead

Right-o, thank you muchly for answering all my questions and hopefully might be in touch fairly soon-ish about a mask ^-^ Can I ask how many spare ones you have left that you're selling?

Based on your video that is exactly the length I want to go with my dreads every other dread IMO are just too long for my heigth of 5' 10"

ya know, Corey, he's right.

I'm 5'8.... I don't know if I'm just gonna be looking like a 'swamped dread head' with longer dreads.

Damn... this is a process....

I still say if they're 19 inches ( i think that's your longest) they should still be right around the chest area.

hmmmmm....

Lol, well they can always be changed out later if you dont like the length. And if they are to long, you can always pull them off and trim them a bit. But that can be messy lol. I guess its probably beter be slightly to long than too short. Ahh the zen of dread length...

19" seems ok to me 24" seems a bit too much based on my stature, but if nothing else I can always make my own like I will have to do with the rest of my suit and head. Thanks for the advice Termokk

Its me again xD Sorry to be a bother. Would you ever take a deposit on a mask? i.e. just to keep one aside until further notice.

I can if you would like, but they will be available untill the moulds break. And its never a bother, always a pleasure.

Hey quick update on the dreads, i switched to using krylon foam instad of silpak foam and the difference is night and day. These things are baby soft and skin perfectly. Huge difference from the others, about 2 X as soft.

Thanks for sharing you journey with the rest of the Lair.
