Predasaurus Suit Build -Mark 2

So I've started on my new suit for this year, and it's turning out so much better than last year. I've already sculpted and molded the head, and now I'm casting it. This year I decided I will sculpt the full body, unlike last year where I used a latexed morph suit. Here it is...

Those were the sculpture, and I used oil clay from hobby lobby. Now here it is being prepared to be molded:

Now here is the mold. I made it out of ultra-cal last year, but this year I tried fiberglass, and it worked pretty well:

I will probably be pulling the cast out tomorrow. Now here is the duct tape dummy of myself. We went to Home Depot and got some PVC, wheels, a thick pine wood piece, and some washers and screws, and we made this stand for the dummy for me to sculpt on:

I've already started sculpting on it with WED clay, and it's working better than I imagined. And on top of the dummy is a cast of the mask that didn't turn out good. That's why I'm recasting. I will probably post some more tomorrow, but that's all for now. Thanks,

Eli

I have started sculpting the body, along with completing casting the mask. I will have to mold the body later because I am going out of town, but I am sculpting the armor on top of the body, so that it will mostly be in one piece.

Now here is the sculpt with a little bit of armor on top of it

I will be putting more armor along with that, but I don't want to have too much. Now here is my mask

Ok that is all for now. I will be posting more later. Thanks

Ok so here is my update. I think I have finished the sculpt, and now I am trying to decide what material to use for molding. I used fiberglass for the mask, and it worked but it's too smelly. And ultra cal I have ruled out because it is expensive and heavy. Any advice would be appreciated. But the detail I put into this is supposed to look like rugged leathery skin, like an elephants or rhinoceros' or the bottom of an alligator.

Thanks guys for the nice comments. I appreciate them. But now I'm on to molding this, then working on the legs, hands and feet.

If I may, but if this were me, before I mold this I would just clean up the pecs and abs a little bit and make them look more natural. I would make the bottom lines on the chest muscles less curved and let them come together in the middle and less depth in the separation of the pecs and the abs. You're on your way though with this one bud, gonna be awhile before I get up the gull for a full suit build, cheers

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, so I'll probably do something about that before I start molding. As for molding, I'm thinking I'll use ultra cal. I know it gets very heavy, but I have a few people to help me lift it and such, and it works well with latex, unless I use Eco flex or something for the body. But I'm not sure. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Now I have covered the sculpture in shellac, to preserve it and to use shellac as a mold release. I am now waiting on the ultra cal to ship. But still, the sculpture is cracking even with it covered in shellac. Anyway here it is-
