Pred Head Sculpt

Hello every one,
I am working on a sculpture to mold and cast for a predator costume. I've done pred heads out of foam before, but this is my first sculpture (and my first hunters lair post :) ). I'm still a noobie, so any tips or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey, welcome to the lair! If you haven't yet, introduce yourself in off topic discussion. You have a great concept going there, I like it. It reminds me of the berserker pred. If you want to make him a little more angry you could move the upper gums up some to give him that snarling look. But hey, what matters is if YOU like it.

EDIT: this thread should probably be moved to masks and body suits

Moved.

Send reports in guys, I cant catch all the threads that need moving so need members help.

thanks, and good luck with the sculpt.

Any progress? And I forgot to say, you should show off some of your foam masks. I myself and I'm sure some others would like to see them :D

So far I've been working in some more details in the "dome" part of the head. And about the foam masks, I'll dig around for one, although it wouldn't look it's best considering its been retired form the hunt ;)

So here is some progress that I've done. I decided I didn't like how the mandibles were positioned, so I took them off and put on these new ones. I will be adding more detail to the head once I have finished the mandibles.

So now I've been adding some of the finishing touches, by adding the fleshy part in between the mandibles, and putting little holes where the quills will be. I also put some texture on the fleshy part.and I made a new "crest" because it looked too "square" to me.

Today I was just adding the holes for the dreadlocks, I make them by misting the clay and getting it wet, then I put the end of a plastic water without the cap on and shoved it in. It worked pretty well.

All right,
I have just about finishes the sculpture, I'm just getting all the little details done. Next, I will be molding the sculpture, then casting it out of foam latex. I am learning how to do all of this by watching a few videos of Stan Winston School.com (For those who don't know, Stan Winston and his company made the creatures and special effects for Predator (1 and 2), alien, terminator, iron man, jurassic park and more). The videos are "make a monster suit" by Alec gillis, and "monster suit sculpting " by Alec gillis. You guys should check it out at https://www.stanwinstonschool.com/

I can't post any pictures, considering I'm out of town, but right now I'm working on molding the sculpt out of fiberglass. If this mask doesn't turn out, I have an alternative solution, by making a bio mask out of fiberglass, and making the edges and mandibles out of foam, and molding and casting the dreads.
