I am wanting to get one of these and can't decide who to get to build it or which version I want. I was thinking about getting a metal airsoft version, but I don't think the mauser is very accurate. I was just hoping some people here could post theirs. I know blastech sells one but can't see any good pics of it.

I've built at least 3 Hero blasters. One using only Blast-tech, one with a combination of Blast-tech and Boba_Debt, one with Mark IV parts. Here are pictures of the different guns. Including the Denix Greedo Killer which I gave away recently. I'm about to build another GK on an MGC.

All guns pictured were built on Denix replicas which were stripped to remove pitting using a Dremel polishing wheel. Pins were flushed with a Dremel polishing wheel or cutting wheel in the grooves. Real wood grips were fitted using Wakal's tutorial including modifying the metal grip and filing it down to the correct profile. All sight apertures were reversed to face correctly to the right. The Denix logo was removed. The hammer nub was removed. No paint was used to finish the Denix, just Birchman-Casey Aluminum Black. Bull barrels were built with 3/4" copper tubing and JB Weld. To make the silver "disk", a small section of 3/4" copper pipe was used as a template held against the side of the Denix for a Dremel polishing bit to remove the paint.

Here's my ANH Hero. Denix based with a mish mash of parts from different makers plus some custom stuff. Modified grips, trigger, full-on bull barrell, pretty much every piece was fiddled with in one way or another. Sold it last fall:

I don't have a pic of mine handy, but I'll tell you what I did.

Typically, a hero prop is the one you see close-up. So, contrary to what every else considers to be the hero ANH blaster, I consider the Greedo killer the hero blaster. It's the only time you see the blaster closeup.

I did NOT use the flash suppressor usually seen on the Greedo Killer. That thing looks like an oil funnel (!), and you never see it in the film. So, I used the only flash suppressor that got screen time.

Basically, it is an idealized version of what you would suppose the blaster should look like, based on what you see on screen. There are only a handful of us on the board that did our blaster this way.

I did the same thing....:thumbsup GK closeup version with a "Hero" muzzle....I still love it to this day! I would like to snag a new version MR though:love

Here's mine, made it a couple years ago before some of the more recent discoveries.

EDIT : Trying to remember who made all the parts. I'm pretty sure the flash hider is a Gavidoc, the scope I wanna say is Correlian Exports (its great but I wish it were brass), the grill (which is kinda inaccurate) is a Blast-tech, the bull barrel is an MR, and for the life of me I can't remember who did the scope mount, though I believe the cradle is a Blast-tech.

Thanks a lot! Yeah, I wish I had the time and resources to further accurize it, but what are ya gonna do?

Yes, I remembered you had done the same thing and counted you in the handful. I really think in my mind that is how the blaster should look . . . based on what we see on screen.

I never get tired of seeing Han blasters. Those are all very nice. ;)

Betamin- Yours looks a lot like one I had made several years ago by BD from his last run of parts. I did add one of gavidoc's super duper accuarate scope brackets. Gav only made a handfull of them. Unfortunately, I sold mine too. :(

Dann- How you doing, man? Long time, no see! :)

Whatup, Ham! Doin good, I still lurk around, I'm just so busy lately I don't post much anymore. It's gettin hard to keep up with everything that goes on here anyway! LOL

Yup, that was a Boba Debt kit with the Gavidoc scope mount added later. I had blended the bull barrel in to the body and made a "sight" on the barrel, and then beat the piss out of the whole thing to rough it up after it was painted. :lol I kind of wish I still had it, but it had to go to pay for other stuff.

Not the greatest pics. Point and shoot in a dark apartment. But this is the all resin Hero I got from Wilco Models for CIV:

Finally got some time to take some new pics of my blaster.

It's an MGC with a Blast-tech conversion. I'm still missing the bull barrel and I really need to swap out the grips. Anyone know if those aftermarket wood grips will drop right on?

Here are the pics

Here's a semi current image of my hero/gk/custom hybrid.

I did have the screen accurate GK rings and a repro GK scope on it, but opted to keep the custom one as I thought it looked better.

Gigatron,

Real wood grips will not directly fit an MGC Mauser. Just like the Denix, the MGC frame is larger than a real Mauser broomhandle. You would have to file it down to fit.

I had Red 9s on my MGC also. I was worried I'd have to alter the handle for real grips and lose accuracy. I got lucky though. I had Mauser Grips in my Ebay pre-set search function when a set of MGC grips with out the 9s came up as the real thing.
