Possible M38A2 Scope Alternative

i just managed to get my hands on a M38A2 scope for my E-11 Blaster project. (Thanks to marcvs66 for his help!)

coincidentally i bought for two scopes i was confident to be M38 scopes judging by the pictures i had.
unfortunatly the two scopes weren´t M38 scopes but look definatly almost dead-on (at least for my non-professional eyes).
the marking on top of the scope is: Telescope M77C
i don´t know if these scopes are as rare as the original M38 scope but i thought i´d share because of the overall likeness...

Comparison of my M38A2 scope and the M77C scope:
NOTE: the size difference comes from the ring of the front lense! but see yourself
M38A2 on the left, M77C on the right

There are a LOT of scopes with that same basic body and different model numbers.
I used to have a list, but quit caring since that design scope is not screen used.

Will the ring remove if you loosen the set screw?

yes, the ring is removable, but it seems to be connected with the front lens...

hey chris, thanks for chiming in!
i´ve read that this scope isn´t screenused, but is this definatly prooved?
don´t get me wrong, i don´t doubt your word, but i´m really no expert.
if you say so, i know you did lots of research and i trust your word but
i just want to know more about it and it seems there isn´t too much reference out there.
i would really appreciate your help if you have any pictures showing original screenused ANH blasters...
THANKS A LOT!

Well, you can't prove a negative, but Chris has done more frame-by-frame analysis of E-11s than probably anyone, so if he didn't spot any then they probably weren't.

Going frame by frame through ANH most of scopes I found were the M19 (M32) or M38 (M40) 1942 version. I spotted a M38 1943 version (like the MR replica) twice - probably the same gun in both scenes.

It will work if you're just throwing together a hardware blaster or something. If you're going for screen accurate, then it won't work.
