Grats on your acquisition. A seriously underrated TV show if you ask me.... I mean, who sets a sit-com in a prison!!!

Fantastic! I've always had an eye out, but never seen anything else from it. Great purchase :thumbsup - please keep us up to date on the screen matching attempt

porridge 005.JPGporridge 002.JPG:loveThank you Nick... Impressive collection of Props you have.
I had a few hours spare so decided to have a go at screen matching the jacket with some success.
I thought when I started there was probably little chance of success as all the jackets looked the same. When I began looking however I found that there were differences.
Firstly I noticed that there were 2 lines of stitching that secured the inner black lining along the breast either side of the jacket....the majority of jackets from the first episode to the last the stitching is above the pocket on the left side of the jacket where as only a few including mine the stitching runs along the same stitch line as the top of the pocket.
The second clue was a big one.. I noticed that the jacket I have has 5 buttons with the bottom button still in place and as hard as i looked all the jackets including main actors and background actors seemed to have 4 buttonsprprprprp.png for some reason the costume dept removed the bottom button.
However there was only one jacket that i could see that had all 5 buttons and appeared in 1976 in the Christmas special edition THE DESPERATE HOURS and was worn by Micheal Redfern as TULIPthis one.png and can be seen in the scene in the Gents toilet where other prisoners are tasting Norman Stanley Fletchers and Lennie Godbers homebrew.
The same jacket can also be seen in 1977 in A TEST OF CHARACTER and was worn by Alun Armstrong as Spraggon the best.pngwhere Fletch is determined to help Godber pass his 'O' level so he gets Warren to steal the exam papers.
I have had a detailed look on all the jackets.... line of stitching.... where the buttons are sewn into the jackets.... etc etc and would confidently say i have found a match.
I would welcome any further advise from anybody on screen matching.
Steve.
