polyurethane vs lacquer vs shellac vs varnish for resin kits

Out of the various ways to seal/protect and get a matte or shiny finish to the paint job on your resin kit, what are the pros and cons of using polyurethane, lacquer, shellac or varnish and why would you choose one over the other?

I would only use shellac on wood, as I wouldn't know how the denatured alcohol would react with the resin.

Are you trying to seal the paint, or are you worried about paint adhesion to the resin? Or something else?
