Very pretty. Can't wait to see more. I especially love the wee shuttlebay.

Thanks for the kind words!!

The shuttle bay was a pain to get it to fit into that small space a be able to light the ceiling and also light the emblem from the bottom. I think it cam pretty nice. The pictures I took seem overly bright and have washed the colors of the floor emblem but you can see the green and red very clear in real life.

I need to take some more pictures of other areas that have been mostly completed and will post shortly. Currently I'm painting the lighter green detail on the top of the secondary hull which should be completed hopefully tomorrow night. Then onto to the 2 lighter greens for the bottom of the secondary hull.

Excellent!

I loved your Galatica models and looks like you are tackling this one with the same level of work

Appreciate the compliments!!

Lots of taping......probably more painting/taping than the Galactica / Pegasus models. This is a much bigger ship and lots of detail to highlight. There is also weathering to do and the Galactica / Pegasus had none.

As with many film models, I never perceived the K't'inga being so colorful. Great job! I am really looking forward to seeing it finished.

In the film you really don't see all the detail due to weathering and many washes that really subdue it colorful look. After all this painting I have to decide to either lightly weather it so you can still see all the detail or do more like the film.

Boyd from Trekworks on YouTube builds some incredible models with awesome paintwork. I'm building mine with a look similar to his version but not weathered as much.

Check out his build videos on the Ktinga and see how it goes from a pristine detailed paint job to a more weathered and subdued version like the film

Lots done!! Top and bottom fully painted. Neck attached to secondary hull. Top is not attached, just wanted to see how it looked. I still have to mount the nacelles and do some wiring before the top is mounted. I think I can do all the wiring from the middle section after the top is glued down. The center shuttle bay/ impulse engine section will be removable for access to the control board and wiring.

That’s some seriously dedicated masking, and the results you’ve achieved from it is brilliant. What’s your method for getting such fine, crisp edges ?

Absolutely beautiful ! Thanks for sharing this .

For this model almost all of the lines have nice raised edges for the tape to follow. Once the shape is taped I usually go over the tape edges with a toothpick or the edge of my tweezers to make sure the tape has not pulled up. As I'm painting I try to remember again to check because some edges can pull up especially on curves and with thin pieces of tape. I mainly used Tamiya masking tape. I don't flood the area with paint usually a light coat then go back a few times with more light coats. By the time I'm finished first light coat it's basically dry. This may help with getting the crisp lines with no paint bleeding under the tape.
