Plot points created to get women's clothing off.

This is my single most eye rolling thing I ever see in movies and TV. I have to believe that the writing team is often under the gun to come up with a way to get the lead actresses separated from her clothing ,but in some "clever" way. Here are some of the more cringe-worthy ones that come up off the top of my head when I think about it:

1. An early episode of "Birds of Prey." The lead protagonist gets trapped in... a suana with a local police officer. In order to survive, they have to take off their clothes.

2. A second season episode of "Human Target." The female lead in the show goes undercover with a heist crew to expose them. Her role in the heist? Strip down and oil up so she can slide through the narrow ventilation shaft in order to get into position.

3. Alien. Ripley has to strip down to her undies to go into hibernation.

Anyone else have any?

This reminds me of a Seinfeld episode that centered around an attempt to go see a dubbed imported soft porn movie called "Rochelle, Rochelle". Its soundtrack is heard briefly, and it includes the line "we'd better get you out of those wet clothes--you'll catch your death of cold!"

What about every single episode of Enterprise where the crew has to go through decontamination after being on some planet? :lol

(Though some part of wants to believe that the creators of the show were kinda poking fun by making it so blatant... at least I HOPE that was the case...)

Seconded!

Or...Blowfish......just sunbathing topless here....though I think the writing on the check had more to do with that than anything else.

Ack, I forgot about what a travesty that was. And no, I don't think Berman and Bragga know the meaning of subtlety. I think that was their best hope of drawing viewers in.

The sad thing about decontamination on Enterprise is that it wasn't bad enough that you had to strip down. No, you had to have lotion rubbed all... over... your... body.

Yeah the decontamination bit in Enterprise was the first thing I thought of as well.

How about Star Trek V: Kirk and Spock need a diversion on Nimbus III.

They get Uhura to strip naked, and do an exotic dance... complete with feather fans (which are obviously Starfleet issue).

Really? :rolleyes

EDIT- after watching the link (since I haven't watched this movie in a loooong time) I realized they were not feather fans- probably local plant leaves.

This is also used on males in chick movies like the Twilight saga. Bella barely bumps her head from falling of a bike and Jacob (wolf guy) thinks it's a good idea to take his shirt off....You hear the reaction from the female viewers.:rolleyes

The most absurd case of this I have seen is from Galaxy of Terror when Taaffe O'Connellis is stripped, oiled, and given the one two by a giant slug/maggot simply because she is afraid of creepy crawly things. Roger Corman movies are always good for a bit of inspired nudity. :lol

Not sure if this really fits the theme of a plot point created to get women's clothing off but what the hell.

Star Trek and Sci-Fi is one of the worst offenders for 'women in the skimpy costume' thang.

There were a few movies where the actress stripped down 'to prove a point' about her determination or something. The director must say; "it's vital to the integrity of your character and the script". And then they find out the actress wasn't even that great looking naked. Oops.

I can't remember the names because they were lousy movies anyway. A naked woman might add to a movie, but doesn't change it from lousy to good.

Sarah Connor stripping down with Kyle is the opposite. It wasn't about sex, it was Love. It fit the situation.

Starship Troopers

Eh, I dunno. I would cite the shower scene as plain ol' gratuitous. No better/worse than a sex scene.

But it's not one of those story points that is forced into play IN ORDER to get the people to take their clothes off. For example, if, after being attacked by bugs, they had to all strip down and shower in order to wash off radiation particles, THAT would qualify. lol

How about Starship Troopers 2... shudder

Under the influence of a bug in her head, Kelly Carlson gets nekked to seduce another soldier.

Best part of that movie other than the end credits.
