Please help! Need ref pics of "RED 5" (ILM model)

Very interesting reading!

But this only makes me ask the same question again, where the yellow fields (on Red 5's nose) painted on as a solid "block" or just some kind of rust weathering?

It's hard to say.

In the Chronicles picture it looks like a painted on rectangle, like the one on Red 3's engine:

In the ILM Book picture it's not really visible at all:

and in the Captain Cardboard pictures, it looks like rust:

That's about all we have to go on, isn't it? Did I forget any?

Oh, one other thing: I think - and I'll try and check this - that the guy who moulded the pyro model for the Icons X-wing examined the Red 5 miniature, and noted Pantone numbers for the colours, so the Icons X-wing might be a useful reference.

Seing the CC pics for the first time I have to say that I'm leaning more to heavy rust weathering myself.
