Plaster of paris

Is it possable to make a mold with plaster of paris. If so could some body tell me how.

Plaster of paris can be used as a mold.

BUT only can mold flexible items, such as a soft rubber mask or a soft clay sculpture.

If you put plaster of paris on a helmet or solid item, You might as well pour cement on it cuz it isnt coming off without breaking something....

What would work best to make a mold. After i put the clay on my helmet.

silicone- clear silicone caulking you can get at home repair types stores. search through the huntorials and theres detailed instructions on how to do it.

Yes, you'd need something soft like rubber, be it silicone, RTV or perhaps even mold builder. But you would need to cover that over with something hard like the plaster or fiberglass so that when you make a copy using your rubber mold, you will have something to help keep it's shape.
If you use just a rubber mold, the weight of the material you're using to make your copy could possibly distort the mold, which in turn would cause your casting to be distorted.
