Plaster Bandages + bondo for armor?

I am looking to making a set of armor similar to the ones attached in this post. Now, I tried using the foam+fabric+glue method, which worked relatively well. This time around i am considering a different alternative: plaster cloth. I was thinking of using craft foam as the base, then applying plaster cloth over the pieces for strength. . what do you guys think? will this stuff be suitable for costume armor or would you recommend laying a bit of fiber glass over it for additional durability?

A thin coat of fiberglass might not be bad but straight fiberglass might be better. The problem that I foresee with using plaster bandages is weight and smoothness/texture. Plaster bandages might get a bit heavy depending on how much you use and unless you smooth on extra plaster you're going to run into problems with the texture of the bandages showing through. You could add extra plaster for to smooth out any lumps and bumps and to cover the texture and then sand it smooth but that's likely to add extra weight and I don't know how well plaster bandages sand, I'd imagine that too much sanding will start exposing the bandages. You'd probably be much better off just using the fiberglass and save yourself a lot of trouble but that's just my $.02 and I'm hardly the most experienced person here.

I agree. I've broken my arm 3 times and plaster bandages are heavy.there is an alternative cast material that they use that's more like fiberglass than plaster... That seems to be a little less brittle and heavy. I don't know the product name but the bandage roll looks more clear opposed to white like a bandage.
