Planet of the Apes Gorilla WIP.

I just started a POTA Gorilla sculpt that will become a studio quality latex mask/display piece, with hand layed Kanekalon hair.

This is just a rough-in from memory (exercise the brain). I'll eventually detail and perfect it with reference photos.

Great start. Looks very much like the Gorilla from the last movie, as it had a more narrow nose bridge compared to other Gorilla faces, if I remember correctly.

Little by little getting there. I'm used to WED Clay, which is much easier and faster to work with. Monster Clay is another learning curve. Takes forever to smooth.

Finished product will be a latex half-mask with straps, mixed Human/Yak hair and dental acrylic teeth.

Finally got around to molding and casting. Next step is hair!

The funny stage when your gorilla looks like an old hippy.
I'm using a mix of Kanakalon for the base, Horse around the forehead hairline and Yak and Goat mohair under the chin and around the neck.
