PICS: seeing patterns in the clouds: Can you identify this non-Fett part?

This is a modern day medical pill splitter. I laugh at myself because all I can see is a Boba Fett rangefinder reticle housing. And I've been told by those much smarter than I, that the Fett rangefinder was a custom manufactured piece, with the Polaroid camera lens insert. But could an older/earlier version of this been the inspiration?

That looks pretty good for a prototype Supertrooper/Boba Fett. The rangefinder topper in this concept sketch looks close to that pill splitter:

Another route I took a few years ago (among others) was the turntable needle headshell or cartridge with no luck. Here's the thread on TDH ==> Origin of the Rangefinder?.
