I am shopping around for a patch maker to make these for me. I am trying to nail down the size. My best guess at a glance is 1" x 5/8". What do you think?

In the last pic it looks like the patch is roughly the size of an eye, making it around 30-34 mm wide.

Thanks. :)

And before anyone mentions it; yes, I know these were embroidered directly to the shirt collar, but I want a removable patch for my uniform. ;)

you could also take the necksize as a reference. try to figure out what necksize the costume has and you might judge about measurements from the second picture! which almost is around lifesize already, at least on my monitor! :)

do you know what size the stripes on the grey shoulder part is on the screenused costumes...?

The quilting on the shoulders is spaced at 3/4" (19mm) sometimes a hair less depending on how precise they were feeling the day they made the costume.

Thanks for the info. With that said what do you think of the patch for size then?

Well, I took some 'screen shots' of O'Brien and his little patch. the best I could do was put the DVD on my portable and take digi-cam shots of it. Ah well, I am only trying to figure out size.

Aw MAN ! Those caps are awful ! What about the screencap threads that pop up once in a while ? And the ruler thingy, measure your eye, apply that to the pic and bingo, you have the size of the patch. No need to wait for anyone doing that for you, and no need to post eyecancer inducing screenca... whatevers :lol

Here´s what I came up with.

Thanks for the advice, and thanks for the pic. :)

The caps were the best I could do without a capture card or DVD drive...:$

For screencaps check out trekcore.com Eyeballing it in comparison to the yoke quilting, I'd say you've got a pretty solid estimate on your hand, but I'm no expert at photo size comparison. It's smaller measurement certainly seems to be less than the quilting spacing, but not by much, and it's length measurement is definitely more, more so than it's smaller measurement is smaller than the quilting spacing. Which in my mind puts 5/8" x 1" as a pretty good starting point
