Done / Completed Phoenix Props V2 CNC - Kylo Ren Crossguard- preorders closed

Re: Phoenix Props V2 CNC - Kylo Ren Crossguard

When is the cut off date for getting in on the V2?

Jedi is right. I won't lock down the run until I have something in hand that is worth of all your patience. This secures you from spending money on something you don't want me me from dealing with people who are unhappy. You'd have to be crazy to be unhappy with this though, they are going to be insanely good. I've got that feeling... inside my bones...

D.D. says a few days after he shows off the first completed hilt. That should be any day now.

Update from the machinist, the prototypes are taking longer vs expected to machine to the complicated nature of the parts.

However if you look at the last photo I posted, you can see they are now recognizable.

Not all the parts pictured though, just a handful.

I'm still hoping something changes for me work wise and I can jump on this before it's too late!

Gah.

Re: Phoenix Props V2 CNC - Kylo Ren Crossguard

CHARGE!!! it. Buy now and pay and pay and pay later. This is worth it .:D
Don Mac.

Oh I would that I could...

Literally ANY minute I could come into the cash for this.... just hoping it's a minute in the next bit...

Every time the phone rings I'm like "V2 HERE I COME!!!!"

Damn. Next minute please.

Re: Phoenix Props V2 CNC - Kylo Ren Crossguard

If one prototype takes this long to produce, then 100 or so production models would take ages to CNC :(

Re: Phoenix Props V2 CNC - Kylo Ren Crossguard

The last run (which I was on) was delayed but still was completed within a perfectly reasonable amount of time. dday knows what he is doing. I have no doubts. The best things are worth waiting for.

Who cares if the wait is a little longer, these look awesome! Well worth waiting for.

Re: Phoenix Props V2 CNC - Kylo Ren Crossguard

yah, I totally agree that this is worth the wait, especially with enhanced accuracy compared to V1

Re: Phoenix Props V2 CNC - Kylo Ren Crossguard

Besides, part of what's taking the prototype so long is getting the tooling right. Once they perfect that then they will be able to crank these out no problem.

See answer below :D It's all about the tooling. Machining isn't like printing where you just press go. Each part needs to be machined multiple times with different ways to be secured in order to get the best details possible. This means that each piece needs to have different housings and machining programs built. Especially for the detailed cutouts and some of the finer details. However, once the tools are setup and the programs set, the subsequent ones are much more straight forward.

Thanks man!

Glad for your vote of confidence! I'm thinking the same. I want to make sure this is the last Kylo Saber you ever need to own.
Unless you just want to buy them all, but first buy mine!

Thank you

So, keep in mind... this photo is from the machinist, with parts not properly fitted, but will give you an idea.

Both prototypes are done, and machinist has told me he will ship in the next day or 2.

Once the prototype is in hand I will add any revisions required and give him the go ahead... So we're closer than ever before. I won't say 2 weeks though...
