And that's a 3d printed one, so the weathering and finish on one of these puppies will be real weathering, not simulated with paint...

How does that work? Sounds amazing.

Different sound cards. The V3 you speak of is a Crystal Shard V3 while the V8 you speak of is a Crystal Focus V8. Check out plecter labs website or FX for the differences.

Any chance we could see the interior/ parts renders. I'd like to see how this baby is put together. There are only exterior renders on the sign up page. I'll probably join the run anyway.

I'll post up some parts break outs once I have the prototype, but this gives you a little view.

End cap and lower core are 2 parts, then lower section is another. Clip and clip spacer are their own parts, then the cable holders as well. The cable holders use a peg system, so they have a guaranteed and strong holding position.




Upper and lower are obviously different parts.

Then the 2 quillions, upper emitter, shroud and core all their own parts.



There are more details and some tricks we've used to get it right but I don't want to give away all the secrets. Rest assured this thing is awesome.

Once the prototypes are in hand I will be posting a full break down of the parts in pictures for everyone.

In the pdf linked are some vids of a CS and CF install. It's really outstanding! One of the best things is he is in Germany also, so there are no additional back and forth shipping fees, customs dues and so on. Everything taken care of in one place so you can get your paint and install in one location and be delivered a fully completed package.

Thinking about the red part of pommel, will it be red anodized, would be great, no paint needed and longer life with anodisation, and valuable if lots of pieces made together,because it's very hard to find someone to just make anodisation on a single piece...

Yes! Good point there, thanks for bringing it up.

The endcap will be anodized red by default. The rest of the saber will be polished nice and smooth and then anodized clear.

I did some Googling and have read that as a US customer when purchasing from an EU seller and having the goods shipped to the US that VAT does not have to be paid due to it being exported. Does anyone have experience in this first hand?

Yes, good sent outside of the EU should be exempt from VAT.

I'm sure there is some paperwork involved but I'm honestly not sure how I can show this. I will have to talk to my tax office.

Paying the sales taxes in your own country is up to you though and I would imagine I don't have to worry about this if they actually tax you or not.

I know that US military folks in Germany can buy things without the VAT but every purchase has to be accompanied with a a special VAT exemption form.

If anyone has experience with this, please let me know! If there is a way to get this cheaper for you guys I'm all ears.
