I've been a member for a while now and have just been browsing different threads.
Over a year ago, I decided to make a Clone Trooper Phase 1 Helmet after watching the Clone Wars Animated Series. I thought it would be nice to make a few since there are so many paint schemes to do. Without any experience in costume making, I went with the Pepakura/resin route. I found JTM's pep file and went with that.
I'm hoping that sharing my progress would force me finish the build since its been a long time since I started on it.
So here goes...

Test fit after completing the pep. I wouldn't want to repeat my mistake from a previous failed build wherein the scale was off and I just noticed after the first pass of body filler.

Put on a few coats of resin for the rigidity. I also slush casted the inside of the helmet (3 layers).

Spray painted some primer gray just to eliminate all of the tackiness of the resin. Started to smoothen the dome.

Some more body filler.

Coated with some primer grey to better see the imperfections/leveling. As you can see, there are a lot of problems with the details at the back.

Some progress. At this point, I started working on the back.

No matter what I do, I couldn't get the back to look right.

I decided to literally cut my losses and cut the entire back portion and did it freehand. At first, I used some styrene boards. I was able to get sharper details but I couldn't get them symmetrical as the styrene that I used would deform due to pressure. I decided to change it, opting to use high impact plastic sheets. (Forgot to take a picture)

Also started to use some putty at the cheeks to get the crisp angles.

The front is starting to look better. This is about the time I stopped working on my helmet for almost 6 months due to my hectic work schedule. I think this picture was taken in April 2016.

This is what it looked like a few days ago when I started to work on it again. Details are a lot sharper. I also decided to remove the angles at the chin area.

I decided to do a mock-up to see if everything looked right. Sorry for the crappy paint job, since I was going to cover it up, I just hand painted the grey and black. The real thing would need to be taped-up for a sharp paint job.
There you go. I hope I would be doing an update before December. Right now the bucket is back to primer grey and I am currently working on the small trapezoids at the back sides and planning to do a collar. Side vents, slits at the mouth portion, and light at the fin still to follow.
I would like to mention that I would eventually do an entire suit and get 501st approval. Any comments on how to improve my helmet?
