Hello,

my first post here.
my name is Bernie and i'm an ex-moderator of The Brotherhood of the Bat forum and...
may i present my wife's (Batman Returns) Catwoman costume.
this WIP has been going on and off for more than a year now, depending on my mood.
i'm proud to say that, at last, it's almost complete.

initially, i planned to do the actual movie claws but they have sharp protrusions to be around children.
i've decided to make my own ....simple ...a bit wholesome. :D
the thumbs are still w.i.p.

thanks,
- Bernie

Why not cast them in Latex, like the stunt suit.

...damn mannequin is too tall:unsure

Looks great :) Love the stitches especially :D

Just one suggestion, for comfort and shape, the boning in the waist will be uncomfortable and at the same time make the corset push out. The original is based on a 1901 corset pattern I have a scan of it it would be of any use? Corsetry is a strnage beast and isn't really like any other part of costume building so good on you for tackling it :)

Yes it does kind of suck to wear ;) I tend to over do it and wear mine for as long as possible- leading to a bit of a physical breakdown. With a corset that only laces up the back (no front fastening) it means you need to pull it on over the head and with a very firm bodysuit that only has a zip up the back.. well it makes pit stops a little troublesome ;) So you don't eat and drink only a small amount of fluid.

Oh yeah and the boots... we won't talk about the boots.

Speaking of which I have a few repairs to make on my one including redoing the entire cowl. Sigh.

many, many thanks again :)

mdb,
your suggestion is most welcome. i'd be grateful if you can email me the scan of the 1901 corset - jediweapon.botb@gmail.com.
i definitely agree, corset-making is crazy.

regarding the boots, i haven't found a pair yet without the side zippers.
good luck on the cowl repair.

Very well done. Batman Returns was the last true Batman movie that was produced until Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Batman Forever was all right and I wish I could eliminate Batman and Robin. Not Even Arnie could salvage that piece of crap.

Pfeiffer has not looked nice since her catwoman role. That costume is very well made. You should be very proud of it.

Great work Bernie. Hopefully my GF's catwoman will come out half as good. im doing a hush/nolan version for her.

thank you again, folks. (y)thumbsup

Anakinos,
i would love to see it when it's done. Good Luck!

OMG ...i might have to build a returns suit because of this!!

Amazing work! I love it but can I suggest something? Maybe you can make the cowl a bit glossy so it matches the suit too? :) It all looks amazing but that throws me off a little.

That cowl's lookin' sweet! Is it one of Reevz new ones?

thanks! ...and nope, not Reevz :)

...cowl was just out of the box, wiped off talc and haven't applied ArmorAll yet.
don't worry, it'll match the suit's glossiness when she wears it :)
