Hi Guys,

One of my friends is preparing a statue for a competition. For the entry he have to mold a 4 to one model of it. He is now in clay period.

He will make a silicon molds and will use resin for the finish 1/4 statue.

What would be the perfect resin formula for this 60 cm ( Opera Diva ) Statue ?

I need your help and opinions...
Thanks.

R.

You might want to think about using some sort of filler with the resin. Sometimes a splash coat of straight resin for details is needed, but adding a filler in the later layers can make for a stronger casting.

What is the final effect your friend is looking for? Does he want it to look like marble, metal, etc? You can use a clear resin and mix in calcium carbonate with colors, and swirl them to create a marbled efect intrinsically, or add powdered metal (cold cast bronze) and buff the final casting to get an intrinsic metal look/feel with just about any resin.
