I think Jedi Dade was referring to Lear60man stating the Deago was the defacto choice over the PG Falcon... I'd have to agree with Jedi Dade. While the Deago is a beautiful and fun build, it is based on the 32" version. We all know the Holy Grail of Falcons is the 5 footer. Now, if Deago did an actual 1:1 monthly subscription to a 5-foot falcon build, that would be the greatest ever commercially available kit. Since that is not a reality, I, as well as many others, feel the Bandai PG Falcon is far superior in detail, accuracy, price, and detail... Yes, detail had to be mentioned twice. There is no commercially available kit that comes close to the perfection of Bandai's Perfect Grade Millennium Falcon.

Well there is that... The DeAgo and the MR Falcons 32 in representation is Darn good... even if the 5 footer is the one we (almost all) fell in love with... But I I was equally referring to moving the Falcon to the garage in favor of the Lego... Hence many levels

Thank you and yes....I have a thread in the Commercial Studio Scale section. I like to let my models 'cook' a while. When I say cook, I mean let my eyes take a break and come at it in a few months with a fresh perspective. I have already noticed, I went light on the shading, weathering dry brushing, dark wash, etc. Thats Ok because its always easier to add a little than to take away
This is assuming that most consumers value accuracy over size. With that said, a builder can make a Deago or MR accurate to screen used, while a smaller kit cannot be scaled up without considerable investments. IMHO, the Deago is a perfect price point where a person can modify the base kit to fit their personal wants. My Falcon has some 32 bits AND some 5 footer bits. I would never call it perfect, and its not perfect for me as the longer I look at it I see things I want to change. Heck, it may never be finished, but for 99.% of the world its good.
Back on point. I think that most consumers value a semi accurate studio scale model over perfect grade. At this level, if a producer puts out a product that is dimensional correct, a qualified builder will dismiss most mistakes as they can correct them during the build process.
I have a scratch SS WIP Falcon, Deago Falcon and the 29" Hasbro/Walmart(?) toy from 2014. Cost vs labor....the Hasbro $40 toy with upgrades as its shape is closer to the the 5 footer.
Lastly, if Deago did a true, scale 5 Footer.......I would be on that like white on rice.
I think consumers value cost over studio scale. A Bandai PG Millennium Falcon is roughly $300(US), while the Deago Falcon will cost you close to $1000(US). Sure, the Deagostini Falcon is available with a monthly subscription, but you have to wait for your shipments to come in before you can continue. There are ups and downs for both kits, for sure.
While I agree that highly skilled modelers can correct issues they find with the kits they buy, I would suspect that when you purchase a kit, you want it to be as accurate as possible. I understand that kits in years past were never close to accurate, especially Star Wars based ones, but that doesn't mean it was acceptable. It never should be. We can demand perfection from the things we buy, modeling kits or not. If you are going to build a model from scratch, then of course, accuracy is not an issue because you will incorporate it into your build.
A perfect example is the MPC Falcon of years past. It was an extremely inaccurate kit that required heavy modifications to make it screen accurate. But if you ask builders now, if they would prefer that over the Bandai PG Falcon, they will almost always choose the PG Falcon over the MPC. Lastly, not everyone has the room for Studio Scale models. As a matter of fact, I would wager a bet that most people don't...
But, if Deagostini were to offer a 5 foot replica on a monthly subscription, I'd be down for that in a heartbeat... Since they don't, I plan to one day build my own.
I'm thinking that generalizing what the consumer market wants as an all or nothing proposal is foolhardy... There is a sufficient market and demand for both the Studio scale kit(s) and the scale/price accessible market - and of course the market for those of us that are stupid of a subject and will buy all versions of it regardless (Me with falcons)...
The Issue for me with Most models these days is space... I Have Most of my grail kits... and Displaying them is an issue - not being independently wealthy enough to dedicate the North wing of my mansion to my Hobbies... I unfortunately have been forced to really pick what I want - I do get away with more than I probably should thanks to a fantastic understanding wife... But I can't have everything I want. This forces me more and more to go with smaller (than I really want) scales of subject X. and reserve the Studio scale stuff to things I'm nuts over...
But - My point is there's room for all these things - thank goodness.

Agreed! Ten years ago....crickets. Cost, scale, accuracy.....I guess there is a secret formula out there to what the average consumer ranks high to low.

Color tone of the backing paper lead me to beleive they were decals.
