Pepakura and clay sculpting

Not really a tutorial, but Backbone andInsanetrooper show how to use pepakura as a clay mold in which clay can be added or subtracted to produce a symmetrical base for moldmaking.

Sculpting symmetry is always an issue for helmets and armor that require it, and this looks like an easy way to keep things symmetrical.

I've used pep as a sculpting armature before, but using it as a mold is absolutely brilliant. I may have to try that.

I'd probably pep it with the flaps on the outside though to save myself a little bit of smoothing before detailing the pieces.

Man, with some of the HUGE HD pep files that exist out there, some people are going to have some near perfect clay casts (I nearly called them sculpts) without much smoothing.

This is almost TOO easy. haha
