Pep armor using sheet metal?

Has anyone tried and actually finished an armor piece using thin sheet metal? I’ve been working with metal for awhile now, considering giving this a go.

What gauge and what metal are you using?

Like 1mm thick aluminum

I'm using 0.063 aluminum.
Are you welding and if so what type of equipment will you be using?

I know I asked this before, but has anyone attempted a pepakura build using sheet metal? I plan to build an Ironman armor using some 2mm or thicker aluminum. I’ve seen builds around the internet and some have managed to pull it off.just looking for some basic info before starting.
