I’ve been pumping out stuff, I’m on a blaster roll! Starting up on a couple new blasters:
DL-18 Jabba’s guard blaster
This one is my dream blaster, for some reason I really fell in love with this when when I was a kid, probably thanks to the Jedi Luke figure.
I purchased an RO-72 from
OdiWan72 some years ago (this is , and he was generous enough to add some resin cast greeblies. I have side aluminum plates from Corellian Exports as well. I decided to print new Phantom bombs and “what IS that circular greeblie??” to go with CE’s plates, and of course there’s the mysterious “marker cap”. This was the grail for this build, but having looked at hundreds I got nuthin’. So 3D it is...I have added the injection molding flaw I assume would be there IF it were a cap or wire nut, best I can do!
This matches exactly with what little photo references we have.
The scope...it HAS to be some sort of probe! I’m going for subtle details on these, since “accuracy” is a bit up in the air. I think I see two small ridges on the top, as well as a slight texture difference demarcated by the “lip” on the ridged part. Rubberized coating maybe? I modeled the lip and will use paint sheen to replicate the textures.
I’m also digging in on converting a Denix STG44 to a Hoth A295 (A280c ??). I have a real Singlepoint set aside for this.
Just planning so far. Does anyone have any idea what the hinge looking side plates are? They’re obviously flipped on either side, but views of the right are hard to find.
