Panavis 1/4 -20 inserts

Hi all I have so many un displayed models at the moment that it s winding me up. I have managed to get some panavise stuff via an ebay seller (I hope) but cant find a good source for the inserts I need to put in the models to attach them together? Any help would be really appreciated, either a UK Source or if any of you USA chaps wouldn't mind getting some for me & I'll paypal you the dosh to cover it all & a bottle of wine :lol

Guy, just go to Lowes or Home Depot and look in the nuts and bolts section..........threaded inserts should be hanging up somewhere. You can usually get packs of 4 of these things for a couple bucks. The longer ones are best as you can anchor them inside better. One other trick I have used is to get a 1/4" bolt and begin threading at the back of the insert and anchor the entire bolt and insert for extra stability. I used a longer threaded rod with the same threads and extended from bow to stern on my Xwing. Worked like a charm. By doing this, you can support the weight of the whole model and not just at that insert location. These resin kits are just too heavy to trust such a small connecting point.

Thanks Dave, I wish it was that simple. We dont have Lowes & Home Depot in the UK. When I'm in the states I always go to Home Depot as you can get stuff that's impossible to buy in the UK its a great store, especially if there's a Whole foods near by :love. We have a similar store to H Depot called B&Q, but sadly they have got no idea what I am talking about when I ask for the inserts. I can get em from smaller outlets but they have the Wrong thread as it needs to be a UNC 1/4-20 we have M6 which is not quite the same (close but not right). A friend at resil has offered to help me out & I've found some on ebay but its such a small order that I don't know yet if they'll ship to me??? :confused :confused :confused They only have 13mm would you say thats not enough depth? You mentioned longer ones, would that be 20mm? cheers Guy

Guy this is my fault, i totally missed your mail TBH. I DO have the inserts here, ive only got a couple, so ive just put them in a Jiffy bag and ill post them on my way out to work.
Ive popped you a 1/4 bolt to thread them in with too bud, sorry for the non response mate, just had my head in the clouds the past week or so!

Thanks Lee, dont worry bud, I just got 100 Flanged 1/4-20 13mm inserts for $12, so I reckon I'll have a few left over :lol. I just hope that 13mm is fine for an X-wing, I reckon thats OK? My Panavise order is being sent today as well so I'm hoping its all good. Got me enough to last a lifetime I think (including your replacements bud). Lets prey that USPS dont loose em on me. I have made one Boo Boo though, already drilled a 10mm hole in the X, got some fettling to do as the shop told me 8.5mm oops.do they go in quite tight at 8.5-9mm as I'm hoping I'll get away with it? I'm such a impatient B@ST**D. :lol
