painting stainless steel/

I have some rings i bought for my friends that are stainless with the outer edges blue and the center a band of normal stainless steel. I was wondering if there was a good way to paint that center band their favorite colors. I plan on leaving the inside of the rings stainless in case they want to wear them. Most of the tutorials i found tell you to get the item powder coated but that's a bit much for 3 rings. Anyone have any ideas?

There's nothing special about stainless steel for painting, unless it's mirror polished. Then you'll have to rough it up first so it will stick.

Spray primer, sand, then top coat. Pay good attention to the label instructions between coats and between primer and top coat. (something I see people not realize is important pretty frequently, not that you wouldn't know this already)
