Painting my Bat Armor

Hey all, got my Arkham Origins armor in from Gauntlet FX and I'm super excited to get started painting it.

coofunkcurly recommended an acrylic paint, I'm looking into airbrushing the paint on. I'd originally considered finding a shop that does airbrushing (there's a few around that does little league helmets), but cost-wise I'm wondering if it would be cheaper long term to get an airbrush gun and accessories and learn to do it myself.

I also plan on making my kids their own Robin and Batgirl armors, so I do have future projects in mind already, could save some money versus cans of spray paint there. What would you all recommend as my first airbrush gun? I'd love something like an Iwata of course, but that would have to be for later, right now looking into a quality entry model.

Also I found this at a local pawn shop, does it seem like a good deal? http://nashville.craigslist.org/tld/5518296889.html

Hey Lightslinger,

This air compressor
and the Iwata-Medea Eclipse I purchased at the end of last year have both served me extremely well in the months since. I used them to paint my Shriek armor, and was delighted by the detailing or coverage options I was afforded. I highly recommend investing the money in your own equipment and learning to do it yourself. It just opens up a slew of finishing possibilities for your projects. Not to mention, allows for spray paint application without the fumes of rattle cans (though spray mist is still a factor for which to account). Those two items together ran me about $200, and it has already proven to be a worthwhile investment. I highly recommend that route.

Thanks for the suggestions, Vox, I'm definitely going to do what you recommend and spring for an airbrush kit now, it's all around the better way to paint the armor and will be a fun
hobby itself to learn.
